A downloadable game
Journey was created from the framework ofBeneath the Wishing Tree, my first solo tarot game. It is designed for creating introspective games where players proceed through a quest by drawing tarot cards and making choices and draws on symbolic folklore, including the hero's journey monomyth and the traditional tarot fool's journey. Whether you're a tarot pro looking to write your first game, an experienced writer looking to bring a mystical feel to your game, or a total beginner wanting to tell a new story, Journey will walk you through each step of creating your own tarot-based solo game!
An SRD, short for a System Reference Document, is a toolset used to create your own tabletop games. SRDs are designed to provide a framework so you can focus on what makes your game special without having to create all the rules from scratch or worry about balancing or probabilities.
No! The Journey Tarot SRD will walk you through common meanings of the cards that are important to your game’s framework. Being familiar with tarot on a personal level will give additional depth to your story, but you don’t need to be a tarot expert to write a great game!
Yes, absolutely! Journey Tarot SRD is available for use under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) license, which means you can use Journey to make any game you want as long as you give credit. The full attribution text is included in both the PDF and plaintext format.
