Nimbus Roman No. 9 L是德國字體設計公司URW++（英語：URW++）於1987年設計的一款襯線西文字體[1]，其前身是URW++在1982年設計的Nimbus Roman[2]，而Nimbus Roman又是基於Times New Roman設計而成的。1996年，Nimbus Roman No. 9 L以GNU通用公共許可證和AFPL（英語：Aladdin Free Public License）授權發布[3][4][5][6]，也以Adobe Type 1字體格式成為了35款Ghostscript基本字體之一[7][8]。2009年，該字體又以LaTeX項目公共許可證（英語：LaTeX Project Public License）授權發布[9][10][11]。因為Nimbus Roman No. 9 L是一款自由字體，所以Debian、Ubuntu等主流的Linux發行版都有預安裝這款字體，它們的軟件包管理系統中也含有這款字體的軟件包[12][13]。
Nimbus Roman No. 9 L這個字體家族含有常規體、粗體、斜體和粗斜體四種字體，由於是基於Times New Roman製作而成，所以其字體風格和Times New Roman很相似。
