奧羅莫語 （Oromoo，又稱：阿方奧羅莫語 Afaan Oromoo，舊稱蓋拉語 Galla）為一種庫希特語（Cushitic），屬於亞非語系 庫希特語族 ，為非洲 東北部國家衣索比亞 中西部的通行語言。奧羅莫語也使用在伊索比亞的北部，並及於索馬里 、蘇丹 、肯亞 和埃及 等地區。原先與伊索比亞的阿姆哈拉語 一樣使用吉茲字母 來拼寫，自1991年開始被“奧羅莫解放陣線 ”（OLF）定案，由吉茲字母改為用26個拉丁字母 來拼音。
如大多其它埃塞俄比亚 的语言一样，无论是闪语族 、库希特语族 或奥摩语族 ，奥罗莫语 的辅音也有一组挤喉音 ，即伴随着爆破音和声门关闭的塞音或擦塞音。
奧羅莫語有一组东方库希特语族 中典型的五长五短的元音，由双写五个元音字母来表示长音。元音的长度用区分词义，例如：hara “湖”，haaraa “新”。長輔音 在奧羅莫語中也很重要，也就是说辅音的长度可用来区分词义，例如：badaa “坏”，baddaa “高原”。
在Qubee字母包含复合字母ch, dh, ny, ph, sh ，对这些复合字母的长辅音 情况并没有规定，一些书写者用双写复合字母的第一个字母来表示长辅音：qopphaa'uu “做好准备”。在下面的表格中，当国际音标 与奧羅莫字母写法不同时用方括号写在后面。音素/p 出现在括号中，因为它们仅出现在近年来的词汇中。注意，自从这种拼写法实施以来还有一些细微的变化：x ([tʼ ] ) 最初写作 th。还在一些作者间出现了混乱：本应使用 c 和 ch 表示[tʃʼ ] 和[tʃ ] ，但在一些早期工作中用 c 表示了[tʃ ] 、用 ch 表示了[tʃʼ ] ，甚到用 c 表示了两个不同的音，究竟发哪个音取决于出现在词汇中的位置。在本条目中 c 始终表示[tʃʼ ] 而 ch 则表示[tʃ ] 。
