TheTemple of Light became the resting place of theTriforce during theEra of Chaos.[1][2] It is the only known elemental temple that is not located directly within Hyrule. Instead, it lies in the center of theSacred Realm.[3] It can be accessed only through the chamber of theMaster Sword inside theTemple of Time. By withdrawing theMaster Sword from thePedestal of Time, a portal opens to the Sacred Realm, which leads to the Temple of Light.[4]

Features and Overview

Ocarina of Time

Main article:Chamber of Sages

The Temple of Light was built byRauru, theSage of Light, in order to protect the entrance to theSacred Realm.[5]

Unlike the other temples inOcarina of Time, the Temple of Light is not a fully explorable dungeon, and the Chamber of Sages is the only room visited. When Link pulls the Master Sword from the Pedastal of Time, he unkowingly allowsGanondorf to enter the Sacred Realm and steal the Triforce from the Temple of Light. Because Link is too young to wield the Master Sword, he is sealed within the Temple for seven years, and awakens in the Chamber of Sages to meet Rauru. After giving Link theLight Medallion, Rauru tasks Link with awakening the other Sages, who eventually join Rauru within the Chamber of Sages. They eventually draw Ganondorf into the Sacred Realm from the Chamber and seal him within after he is defeated by Link.

A Link Between Worlds

Main article:Chamber of Sages

Link visits the Chamber of Sages after rescuing each of the seven Sages from thePaintings thatYuga used to trap them. Once all seven Sages are present, they reveal theTriforce of Courage to Link and create a staircase inside the chamber so that he can reach it. The Sages remain in the Chamber of Sages until the Triforce is returned to Hyrule.
