Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is a port and adaptation ofHyrule Warriors andHyrule Warriors Legends for theNintendo Switch. It includes all previously released content from both games, including every playableWarrior,Scenario,Adventure Mode map, and piece ofDownloadable Content.[9] This puts the amount of playable Warriors at a total of 29.[10]
Changes and Additions
Most changes and additions fromHyrule Warriors Legends have been maintained, excluding the graphical downgrade necessary for theNintendo 3DS system.
Graphics
- The game now runs at 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second while in both docked and handheld modes.[11]
- Companion Fairies are now fully 3D-modeled.
- AllTutorials have been given an updated thumbnail image, after being replaced for the first time inHyrule Warriors Legends.
Story
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition includes all the story content from bothHyrule Warriors andHyrule Warriors Legends. It contains allScenarios featured inLegend Mode, including the "Cia's Tale", "Linkle's Tale", and "Wind Waker" arcs.
Gameplay
- The game's control scheme has been updated to accommodate theNintendo Switch and its lack of a permanently-available touch screen.
- Up to four playableWarriors can now be selected at once. Additionally, two-player split screen multiplayer has been restored after being removed inHyrule Warriors Legends.[11]
- Challenge Mode has been restored after being removed inHyrule Warriors Legends.
- Network Links andStreetPass Links have been removed.
- AllAdventure Maps are now unlocked from when the mode becomes available, rather than unlocking as the player progresses through them. They have also each been assigned aDifficulty level, with the exception of theRewards Map.
- The wayRanks are awarded inAdventure Mode has been changed.[how?]
Characters
- Warriors that wereDownloadable Content additions inHyrule Warriors andHyrule Warriors Legends are now available in the base game, some of their unlock conditions being altered fromHyrule Warriors Legends:
- Twili Midna is now unlocked by beatingBattle C6 of theAdventure Map instead ofBattle A16.
- Young Link is now unlocked by beating Battle G9 of the Adventure Map instead of Battle B1.
- Toon Link is now unlocked by beating Battle B9 of theGreat Sea Map instead of Battle G9 of the Adventure Map.
- Tetra can now be unlocked by beating Battle C11 of the Great Sea Map, in addition to by beating "The Search for Cia" inLegend Mode.
- King Daphnes can now be unlocked by beating Battle C13 of the Great Sea Map, in addition to by beating "Reclaiming the Darkness" in Legend Mode.
- Medli is now unlocked by beating Battle B8 of the Great Sea Map instead of as a piece of Downloadable Content.
- Marin is now unlocked by beating Battle F4 of theKoholint Island Map instead of as a piece of Downloadable Content.
- Toon Zelda is now unlocked by beating Battle F11 of theGrand Travels Map instead of as a piece of Downloadable Content.
- Ravio is now unlocked by beating Battle G5 of theLorule Map instead of as a piece of Downloadable Content.
- Yuga is now unlocked by beating Battle H11 of the Lorule Map instead of as a piece of Downloadable Content.
Items
- Up to 20 of each class ofWeapon can now be owned at once, instead of 10.
- Seven newMulti-Element Weapons have been added, for Weapon classes that never received one previously:
- 8-bit Weapons have been restored after being removed inHyrule Warriors Legends. They now take the form of alternative appearances for Level 4+ Weapons enabled by a setting, rather than uniqueItems as inHyrule Warriors.
- Two newCostumes have been added, based on outfits seen inBreath of the Wild:[12]
- TheEra of the Wilds Tunic forLink.
- TheEra of the Wilds Outfit forZelda.
- Item Cards can now be purchased in the newItem Card Shop.
- SeveralBadges now require fewerMaterials to craft.[which?]
- The "Everyone's Hero"Medal now requires saving an ally 50 times instead of 500 times.
- The "Know-It-All" Medal now requires completing 13Illustrations instead of nine.
- The "Circle of Friends" Medal has been removed.
Miscellaneous
- Barrier Keeps now deal damage to theWarrior at twice the previous rate.
- When a brokenJar dropsRupees, it now has a random chance to drop one, 50, or 300 Rupees, instead of dropping 50 every time.
- The amount ofEXP or Rupees needed for each Warrior to reach Levels 50 to 99 has been halved.
- This results in a total of 2,428,125 less EXP being necessary for each Warrior to reach the maximum Level.
- Several components ofWeapon management have had theirRupee cost reduced:
- SeveralMixtures have had their Rupee cost reduced:
- VS Skill I now costs 1,500 Rupees instead of 1,800.
- Weak Point Smasher now costs 5,000 Rupees instead of 25,000.
- Guard Breaker now costs 20,000 Rupees instead of 40,000.
- SpotPass compatibility has been removed.
- TheUpdate Notes menu has been removed.
- TheTutorials have been reordered.
- The Tutorial "Rental Skills" has been renamed to "Fairy Skills".
- The Tutorial "Locking On" has been renamed to "Target Lock-On".
- The Tutorial "Mini Map (Touch Screen)" has been renamed to "Mini Map".
- The Tutorial "Zoomed Mini Map (Upper Screen)" has been renamed to "Zoomed Mini Map".
- The Tutorial "Two-Player Co-op" has been restored after being removed inHyrule Warriors Legends.
- The new Tutorial "Select Scenario Screen" has been added.
- The Tutorial "Item Card Descriptions" has been renamed to "Item Card Descriptions (Adventure Mode)".
- The Tutorials "Network Links", "StreetPass Links", and "Friend Bonus" have been removed.
- The Tutorial "Battle Score" has been restored after being removed inHyrule Warriors Legends.
- The Tutorial "Additions to Challenge Mode" has been restored as "Additional Challenges" after being removed inHyrule Warriors Legends.
- The Tutorials "Ganon Controls", "Boss Attack Items", "Fireball", "Ganon Bomb", "Fury Horn", and "Burning Breath" have been restored after being removed inHyrule Warriors Legends.

Release
Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition was released on March 22, 2018 for Japan and May 18, 2018 for North America and Europe.[4][3][5]
Pre-Order Bonuses
The Nintendo Official UK Store bundled pre-orders ofHyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition with a freeGreen Rupee Light by Merchoid. When the Green Rupee Light sold out, the game was then bundled with aTriforce Light.
