Inspired by the update 19 mod "Brutal Throne", and with contributions from YellowAfterLife and Blaac, Blood mod allows you to look back upon the level and see the carnage you've left in your wake.
Beyond blood, there are also a variety of other miscellaneous visual effects to make for a more satisfying experience.

an alternative would be ntsBlood for anyone who seems to have performance issues with this mod. you lose out on some of the misc functions but its quite easy to tweak if you're looking for the grittier blood effects of this mod.
this mod uses objects to place down stains, which is incredibly performance-heavy to leave them in the level, ntsBlood uses sprite drawing functions to overlay the image, which has effectively zero impact on performance as they do not need to be persistent in memory.
figured i'd leave this here, since blaac hasn't updated this for awhile.
