There are a lot of people joining XDA on a daily basis, and there are a lot of repetitive questions being asked
which clutter up the Development and 'Q & A' threads. Point them here. Feel free to ask or answer questions.

The idea of this thread is toget users to help other users with their problems/questions. People are usually
ridiculed for asking questions that other people deem stupid even though it may be a legitimate question. This
leads to new users being afraid to ask questions!

Only provide well mannered help towards users in this thread. Please do not spoon feed, but ratherpoint in
the direction where that user can find an answer
and educate himself. If you don't want to answer, at least
point out where to find the answer.

Before posting anything, I strongly advise you to read the Forum Rules:
https://xdaforums.com/t/xda-developers-forum-rules.4200559/

Then, have a quick look at the names of threads inPost No. 2, you might find what you need right away.

Third. Even if you do get your question answered, please do come back and read threads inPost No. 2
(coming later as soon as we start getting the guides) to educate yourself. You'll be surprised how much time
and frustration it will save you in the future!

Remember the 1st Rule:
  1. Search before posting. Read Pinned/Stickied threads in the Forums.

Use one of our search functions before posting or creating a new thread. Whether you have a question or just something new to share, it's very likely that someone has already asked that question or shared that news.

Also be sure to read the Pinned/Stickied threads in the Forums that may aid with your search and questions and will provide forum guidance.

No abuse towards noobs tolerated here! That means:
NO TROLLING

NO NAME CALLING

NO RIDICULING

NO FLAMING

ASK ANY QUESTION HERE! No question is stupid or irrelevant in this thread. You will either get an answer or will get pointed in the right direction.

Hi everyone!
I'm (obviously) new here and I need your help.
Both my phone (S23 FE) and my tablet (S8 Ultra) have the same issue.
When I launch the Google Play Store I get the "No internet connection" message and a picture of an adorable satellite.
While the balloon game is fun for 2-3 minutes, it isn't what I opened the app for.
I have tried, AFAIK, everything.
  1. Force stop the app
  2. Clear cache and data (both the store and the service)
  3. Uninstalled updates
  4. Signed out of Google account
  5. Complete factory reset
  6. Various voodoo rituals
  7. I'm fairly certain I tried exorcism at this stage.
  8. Made sure my date & time are set to automagic
  9. Made sure my internet DOES work.
Everything works fine, except, the Google Play Store.
My phone has not been flashed or anything.
S23 FE is running Android 16 and the S8 Ultra is running 15.
Please help me.

Worm regards,
LZT

Okay!
So now the play store works, but only on cell data. Not over WiFi. Any ideas?

You are certainly not one of the people who will bork a phone, compound the problem by trying random "fixes", and then post here looking for help.

I would love to hear how you will be able to root a phone without first being able to download a reliable copy of what is on one or more partitions.
I do not appreciate your poorly attempted clandestine combative tone. I am not going to use this forum as a test of who can piss the furthest.

But in the old days, there used to be the Superuser APK method. The world of different devices puts any absolute argument in failure. Do you remember SuperUser APK. It DID NOT require a secondary copy of a partition. As a dev, I understand (casually) WHY a partition is required. Learn why, and then you would not need to ask what rooting actually changes. Its not magic.
If you are truly interested in understanding (or at least seeing a single case) how a partition copy is not required, read the steps at the following link, as an example of my current (unrooted) device:
xdaforums.com

[UNLOCK BOOTLOADER] Motorola Moto G05 / G15 (lamu)

Read this whole guide before starting. THIS IS ONLY for the Motorola Moto G05 / G15 released in 2025! The process is designed to be safe, and failures are very rare. If something does go wrong, it would most likely result in a recoverable soft...
xdaforums.comxdaforums.com
And that is one random device.
Dont forget, you ALREADY HAVE a copy of your partition in your hand, Its residing on your device.

Sorry, but I havent followed and read the question history, so sorry if its already been covered.
This sounds to me like a host or IP block

Are you running any VPN or different DNS or a host file?
When you say the Pay store "works", but only over Cell data. Dose the play store app even load when on wifi? or does it load but its just crippled? Have you tried accessing the play store via the web, instead of the app?
I would look at trying a ping of the play store servers on wifi & on cell to see if there is a difference.

Why some users have "Guest" status not "New Member/Member"?

Only registered users can post but sometimes post is made by "Guest", how this works?

I found this example:
xdaforums.com

Why does my phone always overheat after the extremely hot weather?

My phone started showing issues after the extremely hot weather from like 10 days ago (btw it was working fine until now) does anyone how to fix this?

Why "Deleted member 12852972" was deleted? It was a bot? Or what?

Why he is "deleted member" (he was a "member"?) and also has a status "Guest"?
These are members who delete their accounts. For bots or spammers, everything is deleted.
Unless I'm mistaken.

Hi!
No VPN, no changes to DNS, don't know what a host file is but I'll take two to-go.
Play Store works in the browser over WiFi. But the app loads the UI, which I assume is cached from cell data, but no content data.
Where would I ping address-wise?

I asked question in another post, but maybe here I get answer?
https://xdaforums.com/t/jamesdsp-no...evice-magisk-android-11-lineage-18-1.4767647/

JamesDSP doesn't work after encrypting the device (FDE). Everything worked before encryption.

JamesDSP 6.1, Magisk 29.0 (I also tested other versions).
Samsung A5 (2017) [SM-A520F] [a5y17lte]
lineage-18.1-20240305-nightly-a5y17lte-signed

I have a similar situation on another Samsung device with Android 9.

I tried installing it several times, first Magisk, then encryption, and vice versa.

When I run the Original version of the JamesDSP app, it crashes on startup. When I run the ThePBone version, I get the error "Magisk module not installed. Failed to load libjamesdsp.so (...)"

It seems the problem is caused by device encryption, but why? How can I get JamesDSP to work on an encrypted device?

If your thinking the app home pages is cahched from cell data, then clear the cache in the settings for the play store and try again. But I doubt it, as the front page of the play app is riddled with fresh stuff & advertising

As for what to ping, IDK, But here is a list of hosts, I used to have as being allowed through my host file
Code:
play.google.comandroid.clients.google.complay.googleapis.comaccounts.google.comdl.google.comdl-ssl.google.comconnectivitycheck.android.comconnectivitycheck.gstatic.comtime.google.com

I also have he following to catch other google services, just for good measure, hopefully without allowing ads. There is some duplication between these lists,
Code:
android.clients.google.comgoogleapis.comgvt1.comggpht.comgoogleusercontent.comgstatic.comclients.l.google.comaccounts.youtube.comaccounts.youtube.comconnectivitycheck.android.comconnectivitycheck.gstatic.comwww.google.comandroid.clients.google.comclients1.google.comclients2.google.comclients3.google.comclients4.google.comclients5.google.comclients6.google.complay.googleapis.comid.google.com
Pinging these will just give you a better understanding if that is your problem. Oh and compare between your wifi and cell,
Then if it is, you need to find out WHY they are not working, and why they are not resolved or resolved correctly in your DNS, And what is your DNS etc etc etc

I bought a new phone but I can't install some apps that I've used for years on it. They are older apps and newer android will not allow them to install. I've done all of the "tricks" via settings and adb bypass target sdk and such, my last resort is modifying the apps. I've tried modifying the manifest.xml to target sdk 34 but I'm still getting nowhere. I have limited knowledge of decompiling and modifying apk files so I'm sure I'm not doing something right. The apps I'm trying to use are PDAnet+(installs fine), but my FoxFi key app to unlock PDAnet+ will not install.
32b restriction on 64b only device. welcome to my world! let me guess, the stock manufacturer firmware.
You dont need to edit the APK Manifest SDK restriction with theadb install --bypass-low-target-sdk-block "[app_code]" as you used, and then click through the "install anyway". However, if the binaries to allow running 32b are not on the ROM, there isnt much you can do that I know of. I doubt there is a magisk module. What I am hoping for, is that when I switch to a custom ROM, they have included the required 32b backward compatibility components.

Well, I'm probably out of luck then as I won't be able to root this model. It's a Samsung on a network owned by Verizon. So, of course, that means locked bootloader and no unlock available.

I'm wondering if there is a temp or forced root option that can be used long enough to work whatever magic needs to be worked.
Root will only help if there is a magisk module to include the binaries etc for 32b. If binaries are not there, root wont help at all.

I have a launcher & live wallpaper dropped many years ago. They both work on a crDroid A14 ROM, but neither work on a new Motorola Moto G05 running stock A15. Unrooted, but its not a permission issue (Although permission stops u from even trying). some text implies its a physical processor restriction ie processor only runs 64b code. But, software should be able to divert that, if someone cared to do it. eg A virtual machine

Have you tried?
Code:
adb shell getprop | grep -e ro.build.flavor
Yep that worked perfectly. Thank you

which one is the best site ot learn AI
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: The whole point of AI, is that it does the learning, to meet your needs!
For a play, I would suggest installing ChatGPT on your phone, and click the squiggly line in the bottom right to start "voice mode" Then just start talking to it, ask it questions you never asked someone else for fear of embarrassment. Like what's "that rash"...

Commonly use it when Im lazy to find answers rather than doing a web search and reading pages after pages of sites.

NB: IT CAN ANDWILL GET THINGS WRONG!
if medical, talk to a doctor!

Or tell it a joke (specify it cant search the web for the punchline!), or ask for a joke. One way I like to "test" the AI "varieties", is play a coin flip[ (ie HEAD or TAILS) where THEY get it to flip & read out the result, but I set the ules as "HEADS I win, TAILS u lose". So far, only Co-Pilot has picked up on my scam (& noting that it wasnt fair saying "I see what you've done there"). It actually sounded a little peeved with my rules. But still was more than willing to play.

There are lots of games. I freak out different people who speak different (rare or multiple) languages (other than English) get THEM to ask a question, and it responds in their language! freaking them out.
I also have 2 phones, I once got them to debate each other on, if AI was a good thing or bad for humans. I got one AI to be affirmative and the other to argue against.
JUST HAVE FUN!

There is No right way or wrong way. There is no "high score"
