GSRTC bus booking is extremely popular because it traverses through the length and breadth of Gujarat and covers most of its small and big cities. The state-ownedGujarat State Road Transport Corporation fleet include air-conditioned seater and sleeper, non-AC seater and sleeper, Volvo coaches, Deluxe Express, Gurjarnagri among others. Add to it the 1000 plus Intercity Mini buses which have been lately introduced that cater to lakhs of passengers daily within Gujarat and the neighbouring states. The Volvo buses come equipped with Wi-Fi, reading lights, bottled drinking water, pillows among other facilities. Some of the technological initiatives that GSRTC have taken over the years include GPS- based integrated vehicle tracking and passenger information system which is theGSRTC bus tracking mechanism, integrated depot management system, GSRTC online ticket booking facility, inventory management system, electronic ticketing machine, automated fuel management system, CCTV camera-based surveillance vigilance system. Other than Volvo, the GSRTC, presently, runs fleets by Eicher, Tata, Ashok Leyland, and Tata Marcopolo. It has six bus terminals which comprise two in Ahmedabad’s Gita Mandir and Ranip, two in Vadodara at Makarpura and Central and one in Surat and Mehsana each.

Between 2-5 days the cancellation charges are 20% of basic fare. Between 6-60 days, the cancellation charges are 15% of basic fare. No cancellation are allowed after the departure of the bus from its starting location. Typically these refunds are processed within 7 to 21 working days.

Booking a ride on a GSRTC bus that has already started its journeyWith theGSRTC app it is possible to book a ride aboard a bus that is already in transition. The app offers a Current Booking option which helps you board the bus from its subsequent stops. But seats are not assured in such a ride, and you are not allowed to cancel a Current Booking ticket.
Even if you have an e-ticket, you are still required to produce a valid identification proof to be able to board the bus. The id proof needs to be displayed to the bus conductor or any other GSRTC-authorised official ahead of boarding the bus.
It is a free ride for a child between 0 to 4 years. You need to buy a half ticket for a child between 5 to 11 years of age. Any child who is 12 and older needs a full ticket to travel by a GSRTC fleet.
Aboard its luxury coaches such as Volvo or sleeper buses you can expect them to be air-conditioned, have CCTV cameras, reading lights fitted overhead, mobile charging point, Wi-Fi, a pillow, blanket, water bottles, wet napkins and in some higher-end buses a personal monitor to watch a movie in.
