There are around 50 dependent territories worldwide, which are referred to here as countries but never as sovereign states. You can find out more here:What is a country? If my criticism nevertheless implies that Hong Kong or Taiwan are not "countries", may a horn as long as a banana grow in the middle of my forehead.
