Since launching our open access program with the acquisition of Medknow in 2011, Wolters Kluwer has built one of the world’s largest healthcare-focused open access portfolios. Medknow, originally founded in 1997, laid the foundation for our robust open access offerings, and in 2014, we further advanced our OA commitments by transitioning our multidisciplinary journal,Medicine, to be fully open access. Today, over 65% of our journal portfolio is fully open access, covering more than 50 specialties across medicine and health. Each year, we publish over 61,000 open access articles on average, based on the past five years, making important research widely accessible to the communities that need it most.
