1.1: Meeting funders' open access requirements
Lippincott helps authors with meeting the open access requirements set by prominent funding bodies through two main publication routes: Gold and Green.
*Please note that specific journal policies may differ.
Gold open accessYou can publish in open access journals or choose journals that offer an open access option, known as hybrid journals. To do so, an Article Processing Charge (APC) is typically paid by the author or covered by their institution or funding body. For detailed information, please refer to our APC price listshere for both hybrid and open access journals.
Green open accessAuthors supported by funders who mandate open access publication, but do not fund the Gold open access route may deposit their final peer-reviewed manuscript (or “author accepted manuscript (AAM)”) in their institutions or other non-commercial repository. This allows them to make it publicly available after an embargo period.
Under these guidelines, you should not authorize the display of your final peer-reviewed manuscript until 12 months after the publication of the final article if the journal offers an open access option, or 6 months if it doesn’t.
Pro tip: Instructions for depositing AAM in a non-commercial repository
Please include the statement below in the accepted author manuscript (AAM) version and provide a link to the final published version of record by adding the digital object identifier (DOI) and the article URL to the AAM.
*This is a pre-copyedited, author-produced version of an article accepted for publication in[insert journal title].The published version of record[insert complete citation information here]is available online at: xxxxxxx[insert URL and DOI of the published article from the Journal website].

Section 2
Recognized funding bodies
With many funders imposing specific compliance requirements on where funded research can be published, ensuring alignment with those criteria is critical.
Publishing research is a vital step in contributing to your field, but choosing the right journal isn’t as simple as it sounds. Selecting a journal that fails to meet specific requirements can result in non-compliance, jeopardizing funding opportunities or limiting the visibility of your work.
2.1: Funder specific policies
To ensure compliance check any open access policies from your funder carefully. Outlined below are the open access policies for major funders:
Pro tip: Navigating funder compliance
