Biography

Maud Mary Pomery was born in 1879 and registered in the March quarter in the Liskeard Registration District. She was the daughter ofWilliam John Pomeroy and Ann Hore aka Hoar.^[1]

• In1881 census Maud 'Pomeroy' was age 2 years, with her parents William Jno. age 31, a lead miner and Ann, age 35. Sister Blanch age 7, a scholar, and brother William age 2 months.^[2]

• In1891 census, Maud is recorded as age 12, a scholar, birthplace is given as "unknown". The place she was living in was named St Clement Orphanage. I have been unable so far to find any record of the orphanage. It appears to be in the area of Church Town, Cornwall.^[3]

• In1901 census Maud was living in the Liskeard Union Workhouse, she was 21, and listed as a pauper. Also listed with her was Edward John Pomroy, age 2 years, a pauper, born in Liskeard.^[4]

• In1911 census Maud Pomroy (Pomeroy) was an inmate age 32. She was a general domestic servant.^[5]
