Biography

• John Pomroy was born on 7 March 1741 inSuffield, Hartford County, Connecticut.^[1], the second of three known children, all sons, ofNathaniel andSusanna Seymour Pomeroy.

• In 1764, when he was in his mid-twenties, he marriedElizabeth King in Suffield, Hartford County, Connecticut.^[2]

• She bore him seven known children, three son and four daughters, including:

1. John Spencer Pomeroy
2. Olive Pomroy Taylor.

• He "settled first on the present homestead of Samuel Cole. He was noted as among the first to give attention to improvement of sheep. Several of his descendants remain in the town and county. He died on 29 May 1804 inPawlet, Rutland County, Vermont.^[3]
