George Francis Pomeroy Colley was born on 11 November 1797, the son of John Pomeroy, 4th Viscount Harberton and Esther Spencer.
He married Frances Trench, daughter of Very Rev. Thomas Trench and Mary Weldon, on 22 July 1825.
He was given the name of George Francis Pomeroy at birth. In 1830 his name was legally changed to George Francis Pomeroy Colley by Royal Licence.
He died on 9 May 1879 at age 81.
He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy. He lived at Ferney, Stillorgan, County Dublin, Ireland
