Amanda Alvina Marie Maahs was born inSauk County, Wisconsin on 18 Feb 1892. Her parents wereJohann Heinrich (Henry) Maahs andCatharine Dorothee Oetzmann.[1]
In 1909, she being age 17, pressed charges againstAugust Klitzke, who was tried by the State of Wisconsin and found guilty of being the father of her child,Leona.[2]
Amanda was married toEmil Herman Zimmerman (1884-1973). They had a daughter,Florence Viola Zimmerman (later Steinhorst) (1918-2008). Emil was naturalized as a U.S. Citizen in 1923 and Amanda was mentioned in the record.[3]
Amanda died in Baraboo, Wisconsin on 11 May 1948[1] of ovarian cancer.[4]
She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom alongside Emil.[5][6]
