Biography
Origin & Possible Immigration
Sarah Hubbard was the daughter ofJames andSarah (Ives) Hubbard. She is supposed to have been born in England and came to New England with her family about 1635.[1] If the preceding supposition is true, then she would have to have been born in 1635 or earlier. But, based on her marriage date of October 13, 1657, and a common marriage age of twenty-one years, she could have been born ca. 1636.
Marriage & Children
Sarah marriedSamuel Champney of Cambridge, Massachusetts, in Billerica, Massachusetts ("Nere Woeberne"), on October 13, 1657.[1][2][3][4][5] Children:
- Samuel Champney, born December 8, 1658, at Billerica; died young.[2]

- Samuel Champney, 2nd, born March 9, 1666-7, at Billerica;[10] married, October 1, 1695,Hannah Smedley.[11] died March 8, 1745-6.[2]

- Richard Champney, born August 20, 1674, at Cambridge.[13][2]
Death
Sarah Champney was living on September 1, 1690, when she was made bequests inSamuel's will written on that date, "to my loving wifeSara Champnay..." But she was dead by May 1, 1694, whenSamuel submitted a postscript to his will declaring, "what I have given to my former wifeSarah Chamny, deseased is hearby made nulle." At that time, he was evidently remarried to "beloved wifeRuth Chamny."[14]Sarah probably died in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she was known to be living around that time, but no definitive record of her death has yet been found.
