Biography

Louis Guay 1660-1744

Parents Jean & Jeanne Mignon immigrated to Canada and made their home in St-Joseph parish in the Seigneurie de Lauzon.Louis Guay born Apr 25 1660 most likely in St-Joseph's parish or moved with his parents as a young boy. the 1667 census showed the family with 2.5 acres in cultivation, from which wheat was harvested for flour and a large garden supplied turnips and cabbage for storage for winter and many other vegetables for daily meals. Thus he grew up in the same parish as his future fiancee, Marianne Begin. They married May 7, 1685 in their local church of St-Joseph de la Pointe-de-Lévy.

She gave birth two years later on Sept 27, 1687 but died of childbirth complications 14 days later.Louis must have hired a live-in nanny to care for the infant child. it wasn't until Jan 10 1692 that he met at 32 years of age & married Suzanne Samson who was 17 years old. She also was of St-joseph parish.Suzanne gave birth to 11 children from 1693 to 1715.Daughter: Marie Veronique Guay 1709 – 1801

Biographie

Revised display of census. Unfortunately, the change in line lengths corrupted the web-link to the source document. Repeated attempts to repair the URL encoding failed, perhaps because someone else had the edit tab open. Will reattempt repair at another time. Encoding long url's to function on WikiTree is not easy.
