Frederick Childs was born in Edworth, Bedfordshire, England.

Frederick was christened 20 April 1817 in Edworth, Bedfordshire.^[1]In 1836 he married Harriet Dover (nee Last) in Newnham, Hertfordshire.^[2]

There are census records for Frederick and Harriet for 1861, 1871 and 1881.

In 1861 they were in Newnham, Hertfordshire.^[3]

• - wife Harriet Childs, age 63, born in Winfarthing, Suffolk
• - Eliza Ellis, widow, age 29, plaiter, born in Newnham
• - lodger Emma Ellis, age 8, born in Ashwell, Hertfordshire

In 1871 they were still in Newnham.^[4]

• - wife Harriet Childs, age 74, born in Norfolk
• - granddaughter Emily Ingrey, age 11, plaiter, born in Ashwell
