Biography

Robert was the son of Christopher Carleton.

He was educated by Mr Walker of Drogheda and entered Trinity College Dublin on 11 April 1700, aged 16. B.A. 1704, M.A. 1707.[1]

He was, from 1709 to 1721, Rector Shandrum, in Cloyne. He also held, from 1713 to 1714, the Vicarages of Bally clogh and Castlemagner ; from 1713 to 1716 the Prebendary of Killenemor (Cloyne); and from 1714 to 1721 the Rector Vicar Mogeely ; and from 1716 to 1722 the Prebendary of Glanworth (Cloyne). From 1722 to 1735 he was Dean of Cork, and also Prebendary of Iniscarra (Cloyne), Vicar Garrydoyne and Grenagh, in Cloyne.

Robert married Elizabeth Donellan, widow of Ven John Pomeroy, Archdeacon of Cork, in 1729.[2] They did not have any children.

He died in 1735.[3]
