Biography

Genealogist Dale Kellogg in a detailed examination of known primary evidence suggests the year of marriage of parents John Barlow and Ann _________ is 1627 with Elizabeth as the first child born 1628 and Deborah born in 1632.^[1] Her identity is confirmed in the will of her father.^[2][3][4]

Reference may be found to a 1634 christening but no record of this appears to exist. As Kellogg cited above notes there are no extant records of that period.

There is no primary source record of the marriage to John Sturges, however, most genealogists are in agreement the marriage was by 1650.^[5] The family made their home in Fairfield.^[6]

Deborah's date of death appears uncertain. She was alive 28 Mar 1764, the date of her father's will in which she is named, and deceased in 1697/98 when the will of husband John was written.^[7]

Research Notes

Daniels gives the birth as about 1627, possibly in England, but offers no evidence. AGBI gives a specific date of 12 Oct 1636 absent documentation and is not accepted by WikiTree as a pre-1700 source absent primary support.
