The language is highly ergative in both nominal case-marking and in syntax, where NPs in Absolutive case undergo one set of rules, those in Ergative case another. It is not ‘split ergative’, although some ‘nominative’ behaviour is found with some uses of pronouns and with some aspects of the cross-referencing on the verb.(English)
