JavaScript Object.entries()

ECMAScript 2017 added theObject.entries() method to objects.

Object.entries() returns an array of the key/value pairs in an object:

Object.entries() makes it simple to use objects in loops:

ThefromEntries() method creates an object froma list of key/value pairs.

JavaScript Object.groupBy()

ES2024 added theObject.groupBy() method to JavaScript.

TheObject.groupBy() method groups elements of an objectaccording to string values returned from a callback function.

TheObject.groupBy() method does not change the original object.

Example

// Create an Array
const fruits = [
  {name:"apples", quantity:300},
  {name:"bananas", quantity:500},
  {name:"oranges", quantity:200},
  {name:"kiwi", quantity:150}
];

// Callback function to Group Elements
function myCallback({ quantity }) {

Object.groupby() is an ECMAScript 2024 feature.

Object.groupBy() vs Map.groupBy()

The difference between Object.groupBy() and Map.groupBy() is:

Object.groupBy() groups elements into a JavaScript object.

Map.groupBy() groups elements into a Map object.


JavaScript Object.keys()

TheObject.keys() method returns an array with the keys of an object.

Example

// Create an Object
const person = {
  firstName: "John",
  lastName: "Doe",
  age: 50,
  eyeColor: "blue"
};

// Get the Keys
const keys = Object.keys(person);

JavaScript for...in Loop

The JavaScriptfor...in statement loops through the properties of an object.

Syntax

for (letvariable inobject) {
  // code to be executed
}

The block of code inside of thefor...in loop will be executed once for each property.

Looping through the properties of an object:
