Immersed in the beauty of shimmering seas and simple pleasures

Maui, the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands, is celebrated for its stunning beaches, the sacred ʻĪao Valley and majestic sightings of migrating humpback whales in the winter. Its cobalt-blue waves and soft beaches beckon for all manner of water activities – snorkeling, swimming, paddle boarding, parasailing and scuba diving are all readily available. Go on a guided tour along Hāna Highway to enjoy breathtaking overlooks, picturesque waterfalls and roadside fruit stands. Whether you're savoring farm-to-table cuisine or witnessing the awe-inspiring sunrise from Maui's highest peak Haleakalā (reservations required), this island offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural riches.

          Beachy Keen

On Maui's north shore, watch windsurfers at Hoʻokipa Beach Park. In the south, Makena Beach, also known as Big Beach, beckons with a long, wide shoreline. Kāʻanapali Beach on the west side is popular with tourists and families; its golden sands are walkable, resort-accessible and close to shopping and dining. For even more colorfulHawaiʻi beaches, head to Maui’s east side to see black, red and gray shores.

          Top Photo Stops

The standard entrance pass for Haleakalā National Park is valid for three days from the purchase date, allowing visitors to explore both the Summit and Kīpahulu Districts over multiple days without needing to pay again. Explore on your own while being mindful of the community or opt for a locally operated tour to fully take in the spectacular island sights. See a painted sunrise at the Visitor Center, then hike or drive to the top of Maui’s highest peak. The Pipiwai Trail has photo stops at a massive banyan tree, an ethereal bamboo forest, and Makahiku and Waimoku Falls. In central Maui at ʻĪao Valley State Monument, capture photos of Kūkaemoku, the site of a historic 1790 battle. Don't miss the iconic Hāna Highway, where you can discover breathtaking stops like Twin Falls, the Garden of Eden, Wai‘ānapanapa and Hāna town. Reservations are required to enter Waiʻānapanapa State Park.

          Great Dining, Shopping and Nightlife

In the town of Makawao, grab a donut-on-a-stick at Komoda's bakery, check out the vibrant art scene and keep an eye out for paniolo (cowboys). Don’t miss a stop at the Maui Cookie Lady for some of the island’s best freshly baked cookies, a true local treat. The historic town of Pāʻia offers quirky shops influenced by hippies and surfers, while nearby Mana Foods serves up delicious pastries and deli dishes. Pick up a one-of-a-kind painting at Laura Mango’s roadside gallery on the Hāna Highway. Love food trucks? The crispy calamari, coconut shrimp and rice in Kīhei are a must-try. At the beginning of each month, Wailuku First Fridays offers a fun night out with live music, local art vendors and a variety of food trucks and stalls offeringdelicious treats.
