Experiencing a natural wonder as the American Falls crash into the Niagara River

          1 of 1

Be awed by this iconic waterfall

Designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead, who also created New York City’s Central Park, the 162-hectare Niagara Falls State Park has as its centerpiece the majestic waterfall, but surrounding it and the Niagara River Gorge are stunning views, lush gardens, 24 kilometers of trails and historical sites. Take the narrated Niagara Scenic Trolley or Cave of the Winds tours. Venture onto Goat Island for the best falls view and a walk among the beautifully manicured grounds. Hear the roar of the water and watch clouds of mist rising up into the sky. Consider visiting at night, when a multitude of colors illuminate the falls.

Since its formation more than 12,000 years ago,Niagara Falls has been a destination for world explorers, honeymooners and daredevils alike. Today, visitors flock to the region along the U.S.-Canadian border to be awed by the beauty and power of the iconic waterfall.

Nearly 2.8 million liters of water flow over the falls each second, so it’s no wonder it attracts over 8 million visitors from around the world to westernNew York state every year. Iconic views of the falls can be seen in Niagara Falls State Park, the oldest state park in the USA. Or, for a closer look at the cascading Niagara River, hop aboard the Maid of the Mist boat tour, which takes you right up to the base of the waterfall. As the mist from the waterfall blankets the boat, you’ll be happy for that poncho handed out at the beginning of the tour!
