How much has it snowed in Utah this season? How are the canyon road conditions? What’s the weather forecast? Are the canyons open? Know before you venture up the canyons. Even though the Salt Lake Valley looks clear at its elevation of 4,200 feet, canyon weather between 8,000 and 11,000 feet can differ dramatically. Find the latest snow reports, 24- and 48-hour snow totals, base depth and current conditions here — from Alta and Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon to Brighton and Solitude in Big Cottonwood Canyon.
Before you head out, be sure to check road conditions for Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. The Utah Department of Transportation shares up-to-date road conditions, live traffic cameras and more on their website and social media:

Once you know the road and snow conditions for the Cottonwood Canyons, you can choose the best mode of transportation to get you up there to enjoy all that magic.
Utah requires vehicles that travel up the Cottonwood Canyons to meet increased traction requirements. Make sure you know the requirements. If you are renting a vehicle, check for the UDOT Cottonwood Canyons sticker to make sure it has been pre-approved and is ready to go.
If you are driving up to the resorts, don't forget to plan ahead and make parking reservations. If it looks like they are sold out, you can check the night before to see if any spots have opened up. Or, opt out of the parking question with the UTA ski bus or the Cottonwood Connect Ski Shuttle.
Public transportation is a good option to get to the ski resorts on the dedicated ski bus. Park at one of the Park and Ride lots near the base of the canyon and let UTA do the driving for you.
Guarantee your ride with reservations on the Cottonwood Connect. Pick-ups at local hotels and park and ride lots make this an easy choice for weekends and holidays.
