Ellen Ripley is alive and well.Alien starSigourney Weaver appeared to give dueling shout-outs to the 40-year-old sci-fi horror classic this weekend, both nodding toward the next generation of fans and taking a trip down memory lane forSamantha Bee.

Saturday night saw Weaver participating in a taped opening for Samantha Bee’sNot the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, reprising her role as Ellen Ripley to coax Bee into hosting the event. “I can’t cover another presidential election!” Bee tells Weaver’s character in the sketch. “There are too many candidates! Eighteen, nineteen, thirty—Nate Silver is going to fuck us again!”

“I know it’s bad down there. Maybe bad isn’t strong enough,” Weaver’s character tells her. “It’s vile, it’s appalling, a kick in the tit . . . This is your job. You have to host a dinner. It’s the most important thing there is.Daniel Dale is exhausted. He needs this! AndChuck Todd hasn’t been able to trim his goatee in months! And don’t you want to see how jackedChris Cuomo is now? Journalists have one of the most difficult jobs today, and you have to go down there and tell them how important they are!”

And it was the second that weekend that Weaver celebrated her old character. The 1979Ridley Scott film—which officially turns 40 on May 25, and is honored with its own “Alien Day” celebration on April 26—was back in the headlines when students of New Jersey's North Bergen High School staged their adaptationAlien: The Play. On Friday, Weaver herself dropped by to congratulate them:
