Relevant privacy collection notices

UTS may collect information from you for different reasons and depending on how and why you are engaging with us. When your information is collected you will be presented with a privacy notice relevant to the collection, which will include details explaining why your information is being collected and how it will be used and/or disclosed.

We have a number of key privacy notices that may be relevant to you depending on how you are interacting with us:

Students

Short course learners

UTS Open privacy notice applies to all short course learners.

Marketing

Marketing privacy notice covers how we collect and use information for marketing, including events and student recruitment.

Website users

Website privacy notice applies to all uses of our UTS website and includes our use of cookies and similar technologies.

Staff and affiliates (includes contractors)

UTS recruitment privacy statement applies when you apply to work at UTS or engage with our system.

Theemployee privacy notice applies to all staff and affiliates.

Philanthropy

Giving to UTS Privacy Policy covers how we manage personal information of our donors.

This is not an exhaustive list. Other specific activities will have their own collection/privacy notices. For example, specific student services or applications.  If you have any questions relating to any of the notices listed above, or any other privacy notices you are provided, refer your question in the first instance to the contact listed within the notice.

Report a suspected data breach

A data breach is an unauthorised access, modification or disclosure of personal information held by UTS; or a loss of information that is likely to result in unauthorised access or disclosure.

If you suspect something has gone wrong with your personal information, or have identified a data breach, you must report this as soon as possible via emaildata.breach@uts.edu.au. Your email will be received by the UTS Privacy Officer and key staff in the Cybersecurity team.

When making a report, provide as much information as you can to allow us to investigate the incident in question.

Under the NSW Mandatory Notification of Data Breach Scheme, any public notifications made by UTS are published in theUTS Public Notification Register.
