The principle measure of the State of our economy is the GDP. The rich spend very little of their money on living expenses. The poor spend all of it and yet never get ahead (save). The GDP is 70% consumer spending, that is everyone rich, middle class and poor. Consumer spending is the total money spent on final goods and services by individuals and households for personal use and enjoyment in an economy. The remaining 30% is profits from stock, bonds, capital investment and health care. When you attack wages by union busting, offshoring of plants and jobs, you reduce consumer spending. This has been offset by Corporate, stock market and real estate profits, but much of this has nothing to do with productivity (real wealth creation). It is money which is transferred between citizens, as rent and profits from imaginary paper shuffling on Wall Street, Real Estate and Insurance and health care. This work is fundamentally different than growing crops in farming, extracting minerals and oil from the ground, and manufacturing new products which enhances the value of raw materials. The difference is between creating something which did not previously exist (new wealth) and (existing) wealth transfer between citizens. The first textbook on economics was titled “The Wealth of Nations” for that reason. Today our economy is dominated by paper shuffling and necessary health care profits.

The IRS had long distinguished between earned and unearned income. But, powerful Libertarians like Milton Friedman and Alan Greenspan like lumping them together for purposes of calculating the GDP and the rich have been engaged in lobbying to lower the tax on unearned income and raising taxes on earned income for forty years, with great success.

Abraham Lincoln put it this way: “Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.”

So the rich have upended our economy to promote their narrow interests. As a result China is now accumulating wealth at an astonishing rate, as Japan has also done in the past. The US by contrast is now accumulating debt. I do not mean to suggest that is always bad, since government debt equals private savings. But the growing private debt will drag down the economy, because 70% is consumer spending. No one dominated production more than the USA during WWII, which is a main reason for our victory. But those days are gone. Being primarily a service economy, as our leaders have been planning for decades, can only reduce the virtuous cycle of production and consumption.

I can’t say anything from personal knowledge about whether standards in Amerikastan are being deliberately dumbed down (though I am all for it because anything that weakens Amerikastan is good), but I can tell you about the total and absolute disaster that the reservation policy has been in India. When first imposed it was supposed to be for ten years, to lift historically neglected and discriminated against lower castes out of poverty*. Over 70 years later, not only has not a single caste (or tribe) gone off the reservation list (which they surely should have if the policy worked), just about every year more castes are added to the reservation quotas and the amount of reservation sometime approaches 100%. At the same time the only people to benefit are a super rich minority ftom the reserved castes and tribes, while the majority are if anything worse off economically and socially than before. Incidentally, that super rich layer always makes sure to send their spawn to educational institutions where the teachers arenot from the reserved category, and when they fall sick they always go to doctors who are not from the reserved category. As a medical professional myself I see this almost every day.

But in the military we are not dealing with “man in the street.”
We are dealing with people who are there to do a certain job, for which they are pretty well rewarded.
We expectations of their priorities, which are to the United States of America and all Americans.

Unfortunately, gender-confused people are mainly involved with themselves and navel-gazing. Not with contemplating their duty to their country and their fellow soldiers. Most likelyl many of them are in the military to make some kind of ideological “statement” and also to get the free medical reversal or whatever it is called.

Whether these are women who want to be men or men who want to be women, none of these people belong anywhere near the armed forces—maybe behind a desk somewhere, if they have the requisite skills. The idea of joining up with the military as one thing and then demanding to be changed over to another is ludicrous as well as abhorrent, plus basically dishonest.

Plus, who stands in for them while they are on medical disability? What if the operations and treatments fail, and then the military has to take care of these messes for the rest of their lives. Or, what if, like so many trannies, they decide they want to go back to what they were born with. Does the taxpayers pony up for another operation?

This is madness.

No straight white American male should be in the American military. Those who are in should get out.

I agree with most of your assessment of Manning, however you missed the most important aspect of the whole affair. Manning had little if any idea of the material he was releasing. As you say, he did it as an act of revenge. 99.99% of the military data he exposed had no value to anyone really. It was mostly logistics data, only interesting to those who would do the military harm, and of no interest to anyone like yourself. The Embassy cables, while there is a few tidbits that someone like you could piece together some useful evidence of State Dept wrongdoing, were also mostly useless. The harm of releasing the Embassy cables were that they wound up in public unredacted with literally tens of thousands of names of ordinary people whose only crime was chatting with Embassy types: Reporters in Afghanistan and Iraq. Medical NGOs in Pakistan. Priests in China and Syria. Government officials in Africa. Mostly just idle chatter, but incredibly dangerous to innocent people to have their private conversations to US Embassy officials publicly available in a searchable database. Assange and the CIA both said “nobody was harmed”, but do they really know? Would they admit people suffered from the release and prove their liability? Methinks not. He is quite right in describing the rather infantile actions by the Democrats in terms of some of their policies and endeavors. However, tactically speaking, Americans should welcome a Democratic majority that can no longer be defeated by Republicans.

Seriously, would most Americans really want to see power taken by a lunatic fringe of totalitarian thinking fools as we now see in the Republican Party? I think not!

Now, don’t get me wrong, the Democrats are hardly angels and will only marginally make things better for the US. However, where Republicans are highly focused and cohesive, Democrats today are highly fractious with a large amount of internecine political warfare in their ranks. Even the groups that are fighting with each other are also fighting with themselves.

This fractiousness on the Democrats’ part is an advantage for the creation of third parties and providing increased incentives for those that exist.

The two-party system we have today is not what The Founders envisioned since they had no use for party politics. A multiple party system would be more in line with their thinking, though in reality The Founders expected political interaction to be more of an individual thing than anything having to do with political group formations.

If the US does not modernize its political infrastructure to a far more inclusive one for people of all political thought, then in a word, we are done.

Despite the dislike by many for the Democrats (and there are many things I don’t like about them either – ie: woke ideology), they are too fractious an entity to be able to thwart determined efforts to push them aside.

Right now we need the Democrats in power so the populace can take advantage of their weaknesses.
