 All / On"Rock Music"
As memes go, "Okay Boomer" goes a long way. Though on surface hardly damning or even insulting, it stings precisely because the boomers made such a big deal of themselves. Nothing they did was just 'okay'. It was meant to be 'world shaking', like Cool Hand Luke's antics. The Boomer Bible would have us believe...
  • “I’m not sure where this blog will take us, but one way is to approach it as a way of understanding how popular culture and popular music(in particular) so profoundly changed the world when something both miraculous and monstrous crawled out of the lab of the boomer experiment of the Sixties.”

Had to go back to the origin of your presence here. I see lots of people unhappy with criticism of the Boomers here. I generally agree it is not super useful to accept generations the way we are now. Like I see all those idiots complaining about gen z now the same way they were about millennials 15 years ago, for the same reason. Always have to do with spending too much time in front of screens and having shitty idols on the pop chart. The worst one of all is being lazy when older generations have no clue what the new job market is actually like if you are creative. As in I live in Quebec, one of the richest young person we have here now didn’t make it starting some business or being a popular singer or whatever. He’s streaming on twitch, it’s XQC, he made hundreds of millions just doing that. This is a slacker who play video games and that has been the most profitable thing anyone of his generation have done. Same as a pop star, he’s a pretty face. Not a very intelligent guy. But mind you, if you hear some of those rich celebrities in Hollywood, many of them are incredibly stupid. He has to keep his audience entertained for dozens of hours without a script.

What is a generation anyway? The core issue people always will have with boomers is they inherited the largest amount of wealth and didn’t build up anything serious with it. They’ve kept it all to themselves and promoted maximizing hedonism. In Europe, it would turn into the “Human Rights to Take Vacations”. Whatever, everybodyshould take airplanes and go somewhere distant once or twice a year. They even will think this is enriching. This all comes through lost of religion and also, the longer view of history where you leave something to the future generations. Where you work toward a brighter future.

Of course, through it all, it’s the triumph of the Jewish Century. We’d rather say the most successful among us are building things. Like prior generations. We always adjust to current reality, but it is for sure even if Judaism triumph straight from the source of Republicanism. The build-up toward making everything about human rights was the open door to turning everything toward Judaism. The inversion of all accusations. The white man become guilty of everything the Jew is actually doing. There is this idea civilization can continue by shortcutting us off from the equation. So, as said, the most successful white man of the newest generation become a streamer on twitch that contribute basically nothing. In the US, it become MrBeast. This isn’t great, this is as empty as possible a pursuit. You don’t judge the generation because what they are doing is lame, it’s just the society we have now. What it rewards. It’s all quite mind-numbing. But boomers would have claimed gen X was only listening to New Kids on the Block or some other nonsense.

Boomers have opened the floodgate of indistinct tolerance without thinking about it. They also went full on hedonistic without preserving anything. They’re the generation that destroyed nature. They’re still there everywhere saying we shouldn’t be prudent about anything, that it’s all a hoax. Because yes, we built institutions nobody trust, so we can’t do anything as groups. We could for acid rain agree to do things that had to be done. Look now however, people are so dumb, so ignorant, they claim when society did something for acid rain, they didn’t really do anything, it was just a panic that didn’t make sense. Boomers are world destroyers. We can’t agree about any reality anymore, it’s just propaganda and counter-propaganda. Again, because we pushed individualism so far that there’s no group cohesion possible where we can agree on anything. Tom Hanks is either this great actor that portray significant historical figures or he is a pedophile drinking baby blood. Can you imagine people doing this when Cary Grant was a popular figure?

Things are hysterical, because people cannot name the Jew really, so they get endlessly distracted finding conspiracies everywhere else. At the same time, it’s a push-pull problem, where Jews build their entire identity through perceived persecution from out-group. So when it doesn’t exist, they’ll still go around making it all up. When they are all powerful, they’ll make Schindler’s List to remind everyone they are victims as they take over all institutions. If there is one meaningless group somewhere in the hinterland that hates them, they’ll make a big fuss about it to show if just 10 people get together it’s an existential threat to democracy. But it all feed their cohesion. So the Jew is nothing without antisemites to point the finger to. Of course, they are so delirious that they will always bring attention to their malfeasance. They hate all that we think is great. They need to continually push the death of all nations, but we think the diversity of cultures is a good thing. So people get distracted by Islamization when it is well understood Islam is basically the broom of Judaism to destroy the West. Which is the main goal, always.

Consider this sculpture at the Vatican made by Canadian artist Timothy Schmalz. That is one sign of our times.
    https://globalnews.ca/news/5968084/pope-canadian-sculpture-vatican/
Note what’s shown at the front. It’s a Jew with two suitcases, nobody else have anything. It’s a useful symbol. Is it all done on purpose, showing what is happening? That the Jew is behind the invasion of Europe. Is it a celebration of this? People love to be angry at what this portray, but maybe it is subtle.

  • First off, it must be said the Boomers came in a variety of flavors. Polls show that close to half or more of the Boomers in the 60s and 70s were tilted to the right. Many supported the Vietnam War and voted for Nixon. And the majority weren't into the Drug Culture and the Sexual...

Your observation (like your strawmen) doesn’t negate anything I’ve said. I never disputed whether it was in fact rare for young adults older than 18 to live with their parents, when you grew up. Of course it was! Afterall your parents’ generation coddled you and maintained a ludicrously high minimum wage, so you could trivially buy cars and houses even with your high school jobs as teenagers. The boomers are known as the Me Generation for a reason Rather than doing the same for your descendants, your generation “pulled up the ladder” and parasitically dismantled and defunded all those same institutions and nice homogenous communities you yourself used to attain prosperity.

  • “It seems doubtful that younger Silents would have been ‘rabid warmongers’.”

The chartyou yourself posted shows younger Silents being the largest percentage — by far — of the group that most enthusiastically supported the war in Vietnam.

If you want to make a claim, I suggest you not provide evidence that refutes that claim.

    “No, they didn’t.”

As a Boomer whose parents were members of the Greatest Generation, I can assure you that it was a very rare thing for kids older than eighteen in my generation to still be living with their parents and not working, not going to college, not going to trade school, etc. You were expected to have grown up and become an adult by the time you turned eighteen and finished high school. In most cases, kids moved out. The few exceptions were kids attending community college.

Your claim that Boomers “invented” treating 18-year-olds as young adults (instead of as helpless little children) is both false and ludicrous.

Your claim (and poll results) alleging that Boomers enthusiastically supported the war in Vietnam is grossly false and misleading, because it mixes Boomers in with the Silent Generation.

Most Boomers were under 18 between 1965 and 1972 and would not have been polled.

The great majority of respondents misleadingly classified as "Boomers and younger Silents" in your poll would have been members of the Silent Generation, not Boomers.

I did enjoy reading what Observator wrote. My parents are boomers. The people that run this country are boomers and still spewing their hatred for anyone who doesn't agree with them. And who exactly lead us into a full scale war with those damn commies in SE Asia? It wasn't RMN now was it.

Boomers are the ones who've been in charge of this shit show since Billy boy. So in other words, what the fuck? All of those good and peaceful hippies turned into war mongering neoliberals and cons, say it isn't so!

Every institution is this country today is run by those same "pinko commies" that were tripping acid at their lame ass shitty music concert we call Woodstock.

It amuses the hell out of me when ultimate boomers like Liz Warren throw a fit about the cost of college, the very same colleges that are run by her ilk who set the prices. I read an article a few years ago that claimed Liz was earning half a million a year while teaching at Harvard, correct me if I'm wrong about where she taught. So half a mill a year and this dumb left over 80's yuppie can't figure out why college cost so much?

How many boomers pulled the lever for "working class Joe?" That old crook purchased a brand new Corvette when he was around 25 years old, one of the most expensive American made cars you could buy back then, working class? I didn't know life guards earned that much money, maybe he got a bonus for taking down that bad dude Corn Pop? I'm aware Biden isn't a boomer by the way.

For the record I'm sure I saw the same Woodstock documentary , I remember this old couple talking about the kids and how great it was they were just enjoying themselves and causing no harm. I saw that at least 20 years ago. Point is they were very kind people who were just wanting to help out if they could. So no, not everyone hated the hippies.

    Boomers are 1946-1964.

As many people—i.e., people who aren’t blowhards—now cite exactly this time range, it might well be the case that the span has been authoritatively revised since the sixties. I recall clearly, however, that in 1961 the newspapers were publishing and the TV news departments were broadcasting the reports of respected demographers that the Baby Boom had ended in 1960 because in that year the birthrate had fallen to within a 5 percent increment of pre-1946 levels for the first time since 1945.

As for the start of the Baby Boom, however, it boggles the mind that anyone could claim it began in 1945. The boom occurred because, after June 1945 and especially September 1945, rather more than a million amorous overseas vets were demobbed and came home to equally amorous wives and soon-to-be wives. Thus, the birthrate didn’t begin to spike until the second quarter of 1946.

Consequently Hitler made many speeches addressing his people to work better in order to improve their standard of living. Anyway, when the Germany moved eastward and began to carve out a vast empire in the 1941 following Operation Barbarossa, it soon became apparent that Hitler became even more ruthless and murderous than Stalin when dealing with non-German nationals. The Nazi German plan in the East was pretty grim.

  • Anonymous[361] • Disclaimer says:

In short, again, the answer to the rhetorical question is that it’s basically a myth and pys-op, they never were a “peace and leave” generation that somehow went wrong.

As harsh as it sounds, it’s not really possible to ever truly overstate how horrible this generation truly is. Obviously, boomer Democrats like Warren have to at least pretend to be concerned about things like the price of college–but it’s all just an act.

Anything boomers say about themselves has to be taken with a grain of salt, they tend to lie and mislead about everything, even completely invert reality. Because of their narcissism, many of them are truly talented at gaslighting and projection.

The standard left wing boomer myth is that large numbers of boomers were once good-hearted hippies, pacificists, and open-minded idealists, disillusioned by the world of their parents. Despite, or because of, their overly good-natured but simplistic idealism, the story goes, something went drastically wrong and they did a 180.

But most of the left wing movements they claim to have spearheaded (whatever one’s view of them) were actually done so by previous generations, boomers simply take credit for them after the fact. The boomers enmeshed in youth counter-cultures were purely motivated by self-absorption and hedonism, not idealism. Middle-class boomers didn’t have to work, so they could “protest” by going to college for free and partying and having endless drug-fueled orgies on their parents’ dime. The boomers were actually more supportive of the Vietnam war than their parents, but this only changed when the draft meant they might have to take part in it.

It’s self-evident now, but if boomers claim they were once unnerved by the spectre of soullessly maximizing profits, this was obviously because it was always how they themselves saw the world, and this was just a case of projection on their part. Alsox as they notoriously accuse millennials of, they “didn’t want to wait their turn,” and wanted to be the ones orchestrating the warmongering and profiteering.

But hopefully their unique sociopathy will continue to get ongoing discussion:

Jung-Freud’s article is sort of like the recent stories that Obama is a homosexual and a crack addict, and was from his first appearance in office. Things change, and you see things differently. Why was an insane person put into the Presidency? How has the insane person managed to keep his authority even after leaving office?

Jun-Freud’s article uses different media products to illustrate its points. It is almost an archetype of an article by psychiatrist acting like a computer hacker: using the deeper structure of the human psyche much as a hacker uses a software system’s basic nature to circumvent security measures. Note the frequent appeal to emotion, reinforced by media clips and denunciation. Love is anything but love, so is hate, and the reader is lost in a fog where anything can mean anything.

If the present era means anything, it is that we don’t have the time or money for this worthless drivel anymore. And, when you don’t believe in anything, you don’t believe inanything. Not even with phytologically structured arguments intended to bypass the conscious mind.

And here’s a bit of my own emotion summoning, the mood of 2023 – when all has been betrayed, and the former good has been revealed as the insane and the dying, beyond even evil —

And there she lulled me asleep,
And there I dream’d, Ah! Woe betide!
The latest dream I ever dreamt
    On the cold hill side.

I saw pale Kings, and Princes too,
    Pale warriors, death pale were they all;
They cried, La belle dame sans merci,
    Thee hath in thrall.

I saw their starv’d lips in the gloam
    With horrid warning gaped wide,
And I awoke, and found me here
    On the cold hill’s side.

And this is why I sojourn here
    Alone and palely loitering;
Though the sedge is withered from the Lake
And no birds sing. . ..

I also think it has to do with the fact that Stalin was more taciturn and introverted than Adolf Hitler. You see, Hitler-- being an extrovert-- always had to shoot his mouth off, and make all sorts of speeches. That is explains the curious fact, and it is most curious, that although the Soviet Union did carry out many, many of the very same types of military atrocities and crimes against Humanity that one usually associates with the Third Reich, Stalin is never quite as condemned and vilified as Hitler!

Since Hitler did make more speeches, it is easier to analyze and deconstruct-- and hence vilify--- Nazi ideology as it is to vilify Stalinist ideology. I think I am on to something there. Please reply, if you can!

Detailed knowledge of cinema is not the same as I.Q., but perception as well is intelligence. You have, I would guess, two S.D.s on average Ashkenazi I.Q. (as do I).

Why the constant claims of superiority?

As stated in an earlier post, black superiority in sports is very limited, and rules have to be changed in some cases, such as the removal of requirent for grace in women’s gymnastics to obtain a brief time at the top for Simone Bilious.

She was an utter failure in Tokyo. One would hope that the gymnastics people have reverted from a policy that allowed a steroid-pumped (or very high-testosterone) simian-impersonator to win a very few high-level events for a little time.

The US mass media is owned/controlled by Jews. 5 minutes with google would show this. These people have their narrative and reasons to demonize Germany and Germans for that fixation:

Here are 2 reasons; feel free to add more:

    1) To keep the blackmail money, ahem, reparations cash flow going like a Niagara Falls of money to Israel and holohoax "survivors". Don't forget to add the USA $3 billion per year to that sum. 4th generation of Germans are beginning to pay for that swindle.

    2) National Socialism was a third way to organize a society for the benefit of its citizens. This avoided the excesses of unbridled capitalism ie. bankers' capitalism as opposed to worker/labour capitalism. The latter, the real creators of wealth of a nation, were benefiting tremendously from NS.
The opposite extreme from capitalism was Soviet communism. Read a recent biography of Stalin and see what absolute scum US president Roosevelt called Uncle Joe and his BFF.

National Socialism was real threat, socially, economically, and organizationally, to the capitalists and communists. Thus these superficial enemies made common cause to destroy a small European country that had the brains and skill to successfully implement a better way.

There are other reasons but these 2 suffice here.

Surely you have heard the expression All Wars are Bankers' Wars? Methinks this explains your query.

I also think it has to do with the fact that Stalin was more taciturn and introverted than Adolf Hitler. You see, Hitler– being an extrovert– always had to shoot his mouth off, and make all sorts of speeches. That is explains the curious fact, and it is most curious, that although the Soviet Union did carry out many, many of the very same types of military atrocities and crimes against Humanity that one usually associates with the Third Reich, Stalin is never quite as condemned and vilified as Hitler!

Since Hitler did make more speeches, it is easier to analyze and deconstruct– and hence vilify— Nazi ideology as it is to vilify Stalinist ideology. I think I am on to something there. Please reply, if you can!

Hitler cared for his people; Stalin sure as h..l did not. If you have problems with that assertion I suggest you do some reading. UR here would be a good start.

Consequently Hitler made many speeches addressing his people to work better in order to improve their standard of living. A recurring theme in his speeches was that if you want to improve your standard of living you must work for that with your own two hands. During this part of his speech Hitler would raise his two hands with their backs to the people to emphasize this point of 'your own two hands'.

I took German as a minor in engineering school in order to listen to the original of Hitler's speeches.

And the speeches I manages to see were all about the theme of working towards improving the standard of living in Germany.

As to the atrocities Germany is supposed to have committed, I'd want to know the circumstances along with verified forensic evidence. Too much of these "German atrocities" are bandied about without ever producing believable evidence.

"But why is 'Jewish power' so 'invisible' to so many Whites?"

To most whites, Jews appear to be other "white people" like themselves. They don't wear their Jewishness on their sleeve, especially not when they're up to no good.

The Jews' ability to blend into the crowd has been a problem for a long time. That's why many of them were forced to wear funny pointed hats in the Middle Ages. It's why Hitler forced them to wear the Star of David.

Add the fact that Jews control the media, and it shouldn't be any mystery as to why they would be invisible to so many whites.

"It's not like the Jews are hiding their power."

It's true that they are more brazen today. But that brazenness is only very recent. It's still not overt enough to be recognized by most whites.

How many whites know that Biden's cabinet is heavily Jewish (Garland, Yellen, Walensky, Cohen, Gensler, Mayorkas, Haines and Blinken)? How many would think that that matters, even if they did know? Hardly any.

Jewish power in the U.S. has grown gradually. It was more discreet in the past than it is today. In 1913, President Wilson was surrounded by Jews and gave them everything they wanted. At that time, most Americans had never even seen a Jew. When they saw people like Baruch, Morgenthau and the other Jews surrounding Wilson, all they saw were "white people" like themselves.

Jews have corrupted evangelical Christians. Samuel Untermeyer and his wealthy Jewish friends financed the career of Cyrus Scofield, whose Scofield Reference Bible is the basis for "Christian" Zionism in America.

"Christian" Zionists form a powerful voting bloc that has enabled Jewish neo-cons to take over American foreign policy. Jewish influence (e.g., Jeffrey Sachs in the Vatican) has also weakened the Roman Catholic Church. The new mass omits the reference to "perfidious Jews" that is found in the old Latin mass.

If you criticize the Jews, you are a "bad person" who doesn't care about the Holocaust and "God's chosen people". If you criticize the Jews, you could very well lose your job, your reputation, your bank account, etc., because Jews have so much financial power.

White Americans instinctively "fear the Jew". If you criticize the Jews in their presence, they will vehemently defend the Jews and call you a terrible person. This isn't unique to America. It's the same in Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany and most of Western Europe. We have to work against this. It's a tall order to say the least.

I don't mean to accuse you personally of lying, but I'm going to call bullshit on the boomer trope that your parents were filled with rage and anguish and were horrible to you because of their "war trauma." I knew a few Americans of the greatest generation who raised boomers. They were usually calm, utterly selfless, even the more disagreeable ones basically all treated their kids like gold. They certainly provided a (relative) utopia for their children to grow up in. Unlike boomers, many of them helped out their children well into adulthood and didn't mind being much poorer than their desendents.

But that's just another lie that you boomers tell yourselves (again, maybe not you personally), like the trope that you walked 10 miles to school each day in the snow, or that you ever worked hard. There's a documentary on Woodstock on youtube, I don't recall the name of it, but the first instinct of many older people in the area at the time when they heard about Woodstock was to immediately worry about the welfare of "those kids" (despite being unrelated to them) and to immediately send food and water to them.

Your parents' generation had no trouble controlling the excesses of capitalists. You were the ones who undid all that and sold out to capitalists the first chance you get. At least you admit you weren't genuine revolutionaries, but simply spoiled brats looking to have a tantrum against your parents.

    Replies: @Blondie Callahan 1970

I did enjoy reading what Observator wrote. My parents are boomers. The people that run this country are boomers and still spewing their hatred for anyone who doesn’t agree with them. And who exactly lead us into a full scale war with those damn commies in SE Asia? It wasn’t RMN now was it.

Boomers are the ones who’ve been in charge of this shit show since Billy boy. So in other words, what the fuck? All of those good and peaceful hippies turned into war mongering neoliberals and cons, say it isn’t so!

Every institution is this country today is run by those same “pinko commies” that were tripping acid at their lame ass shitty music concert we call Woodstock.

It amuses the hell out of me when ultimate boomers like Liz Warren throw a fit about the cost of college, the very same colleges that are run by her ilk who set the prices. I read an article a few years ago that claimed Liz was earning half a million a year while teaching at Harvard, correct me if I’m wrong about where she taught. So half a mill a year and this dumb left over 80’s yuppie can’t figure out why college cost so much?

How many boomers pulled the lever for “working class Joe?” That old crook purchased a brand new Corvette when he was around 25 years old, one of the most expensive American made cars you could buy back then, working class? I didn’t know life guards earned that much money, maybe he got a bonus for taking down that bad dude Corn Pop? I’m aware Biden isn’t a boomer by the way.

For the record I’m sure I saw the same Woodstock documentary , I remember this old couple talking about the kids and how great it was they were just enjoying themselves and causing no harm. I saw that at least 20 years ago. Point is they were very kind people who were just wanting to help out if they could. So no, not everyone hated the hippies.

Let's just say I accept that it's "the jews" as a group ultimately driving things (as opposed to, say, a few zionist billionaires and elites in the donor cloass, which includes some jews but non-jews as well)). They could be ten times worse and everything I said about boomers still applies.

Boomers are technically those born from 1946-164. Boomers aren't just the "old white people" of an era. For instance, in worldview, temperament, and motivation, the people who raised them were absolutely nothing like baby boomers whatsoever.

For better or worse, boomers were originally known as the "Me generation," for a good reason and are largely now known as the generation that only works for its own benefit. Their tenure has been an absolute disaster for the country as well as Western civilization.

Boomers may not have passed the Hart Cellar Act, which Unz argues may be overrated anyways as the sole cause of the immigration crisis great replacement, but they could have easily repealed it and failed to do so. They've largely overseen and expanded the demographic change. Right leaning boomers are just as much at fault, it's not a left versus right issue.

This following passage may be overly polemic, but its a very apt summary of the psycho-politics of boomerism:

"..In addition to wanting complete personal liberation, which was a fit of pique at their parents, the Me generation formulated one other agenda. They wanted to close the door to all who followed. Like most radical individualists, they engaged in a combination of narcissism and solipsism which actively denied the world outside themselves except as it could be used for the benefit of themselves. Society existed to be the canvas upon which they painted their bright and beautiful existence. Like every depressed person who speaks frequently about how they are an artist, this too was a power grab using the social prestige conferred on art to convey importance to the individual life. Each of these individualists wanted to be the new Jesus Christ, Albert Einstein and The Beatles rolled into one, a character of vast profundity which conveniently justified their egomania, selfishness and power-hungry greed.

As parents, the Me generation provided a paint-by-numbers example of how to utterly fail. Most divorced, and left their kids wondering if their own conception had not been a mistake; those who did not manipulated their children relentlessly, setting them up to fail and then using that failure as a justification to re-program their lives toward Baby Boomer objectives, which as always are to use ideology as a shield for the personal quest for power..."

“For better or worse, boomers were originally known as the ‘me’ generation.”

The only boomers capable of satisfying that “me” criterion were a small minority of Wall Street types, heavily Jewish.

To characterize an entire generation — including blue collar workers and Vietnam War draftees and volunteers — as a “me” generation is something that can only be believed in by stupid people (of which there seem to be quite a few in this thread).

“[Boomers] could have easily repealed [the Hart-Celler Act] and failed to do so.”

This statement of yours shows ignorance of how Congress works.

All legislation is filtered through the Speaker of the House, the Senate Majority Leader, and the chairmen they appoint to the various committees and subcommittees of Congress. You don’t get those positions without having a lot of seniority. That means being sixty or older in most cases. Boomers didn’t even begin to have such power until 2006.

The Senate Majority Leader has the power to declare any legislation he doesn’t like as “dead on arrival” in the Senate, which means it won’t get passed.

So, let’s look at the Senate Majority Leaders who have been in control since 2006, when the boomers began to gain some power:

Harry Reid, 2006 to 2016. Born in 1939. Not a boomer.
Mitch McConnell, 2016 to 2020. Born in 1942. Not a boomer.
Chuck Schumer, 2020 to the present. Born in 1950. A boomer.

Boomers have only had the power to repeal the Hart-Celler Act since 2020!

And boomer Schumer is a Jew, which does not make him a typical boomer.

People here can spew ignorance all they want. But I will be here to correct them.

One of the most important political books of the past few decades is Bruce Gibney's "A Generation of Sociopaths." Not a dull read, despite being non-partisan and admittedly seemingly unredpilled (at least in the narrow sense of directly transgressing taboo topics regarding race and gender). I would even dare to suggest it's a must-read, especially for any American (even the iconoclastic, well-meaning baby boomer) looking to make sense of the directly the country has headed over at least the last several decades.

As for the Vietnam issue, it's important to understand baby boomers have always used ideology as simply a cover to pursue their own interests. This is true for both nominally right as well as left leaning boomers. There's a lot of malarkey (Gibney debunks some of it) regarding the boomer role in ending the Vietnam War. In fact, the baby boomers themselves were numerically the largest supporters of the Vietnam war, right up until they would have to play their part. They only opposed it to the extent they would personally be at risk from being drafted. It's a complete myth they were a legitimately pro-peace generation.

Nor were left-leaning boomers genuine revolutionaries in the typical sense of the term. Many of them wanted to eliminate any societal constraints against their personal pursuit of self-liberation. In hindsight, we absolutely see that the problem is they only cared about their personal self-liberation, they in turn made sure to slam the door to all who followed. It's easy to understand boomers once you understand their psychology. They will only act and vote in their own personal self-interests, also with a bizarre and distinct malice towards both their predecessors and descendents.

Until sufficient numbers of boomers are gone, or the other generations figure out how to hold the boomers accountable, nothing constructive will ever truly be done in the country. Gibney makes a compelling case, in line with the observations of many others, that this one generation is uniquely sociopathic and antisocial, and the cause of much of our plight. To paraphrase a quote of his, "What happened to the future? Frankly, the boomers did."

In 1965, when the Vietnam War began to escalate, the oldest boomers were 19 and the youngest were one year old.

I’m surprised to hear that these boomers (who were infants, young children and teen-agers) were polled and the result of the poll said that they strongly supported the Vietnam War.

    Whoda thunkit?

    “…despite being non-partisan … ”

Other than the fact that he calls a Republican president a sociopath.

” … they in turn made sure to slam the door on all who followed.”

Google “amount of money left by boomers to their descendants.” $53 trillion is the most conservative estimate given.

That’s not counting all the “emergency money” given by the boomers to their latte-drinking children.

Nor does it count all the “boomerang kids” boomers have allowed to live with them without paying any rent.

If boomers are going to be coming to their kids for help, it will be because they indulged their lazy, good-for-nothing children and showered them with money instead of saving for their own retirements.

I assume you're implying that since many boomers have an enormous amount of wealth, their descendents will be well off because they'll inherit all or most of it. There are lots of problems with this theory, which is obviously intended as a ludicrous and propagandistic way of spinning the gigantic wealth gap between the boomers and their descendents. Obviously, you would only get to say that the boomers have left $53 trillion, as if it's a present day fact, once they do in fact leave it to their descendents. Remember, this is the generation that kicks their kids out at 18, and lives by the boast that they're spending their kids inheritance.

Demography developed for precisely one purpose: to study at-large trends within massive populations of the recent and distant past, the hope being that observation and study of a very limited range of their clearly demarcated behavioral patterns might assist people living now and in the future to avoid what some might call the mistakes of past generations and perpetuate or repeat what they seemed to have got right. In other words, demography was founded as a genuine discipline, not an offshoot of psychoanalysis.

It was left to Jew liars and to the knee-jerk conformist women who cling to all they say, women such as Andrea Ostrov Letania (aka Jung-Freud and Priss Factor), to encourage you and other halfwits to claim arrogantly that people en masse have the sort of overarching political and societal power that the entirety of five thousand years of human experience has conclusively shown is possessed at any given time only by a handful of men!*

Let’s just say I accept that it’s “the jews” as a group ultimately driving things

The current situation is like “A people with a mind for a people without a mind.”

Jews have a mind(even if wicked) whereas whites have no mind, at least in the current order.
Naturally, those without a mind outsource thinking and valuation to those with a mind.

The ultimate measure of worth in the West comes down to “How do Jews feel about it?”

  • This is truly Unz style writing, unfortunately. Unfortunately for Ron and for the rest of us. A dogpile of sentences mashed into paragraphs screaming for an editor. But that ain’t the least of it. Yes, an eye on history and culture, but just one eye. Blind in the other. And the good eye is skewed. A cross eyed writer with one blind eye. That’s it.

To be brief: left is historically class analysis of social reality, based on the supposed reality of constant class warfare between the owners of capital and the rest of us forced to sell our labor power as a commodity on the market. The left organizes the losers in the class war against the winners. Class warfare is the motor of all human history because production and exchange in order to survive precede culture which is a ‘superstructure’ riding on class relations. The left’s goal is to win the class war and take over the means of production.

That’s the left in a nutshell. Don’t read Marx, read Engels, he’s a better writer and expostulates clearly the left point of view. Not saying he’s right or wrong. Read Engels, Socialism, Utopian and Scientific.

Glance through the above article about the ‘left’, see any analysis of economic class warfare? Me neither.

Capitalism is essentially about how to maximize profits.

That pretty much sums up what we found so intolerable about the world we were born into. But for some of us, carrying Chairman Mao’s Little Red Book was first and foremost the primo way to cheese off mom and dad, who were so propagandized by the jingoist garbage they were exposed to during the horror show we call World War II. Their mindset was the inspiration for the much misunderstood slogan, “don’t trust anyone over thirty”, which was trivialized by a hostile media into an apolitical ageist manifesto. Socialism had a new appeal for my generation, for we noticed the great success of the US economy when it was centrally planned by Washington to win that unnecessary war – which was (then as now) about achieving global hegemony by sowing global chaos.

Of course, Vietnam was the catalyst. Every week the TV would tell us another five hundred Americans were killed, while tens of thousands of VC had been exterminated and the end of the tunnel was clearly in sight. The military lied and blustered, just the way we are told Ukraine is about to trounce Russia today. Worse, we kept getting personal RSVP invitations to join the pajama party, year after year after year, even as Dick Nixon’s “secret plan” to end the war proved to be by expanding the damn war. We found ourselves in a Kafkaesque world (hence we took to spelling it “Amerika”, the title of his allegorical novel) that made no sense and had no escape. The popular 1969 movieEasy Rider had as its tag line “a man went in search of America and couldn’t find it anywhere” and this was a widely shared experience. And as we looked honestly at our history, we saw the war was not what we regarded in our innocence as a monstrous aberration, but rather imperialist business as usual.

The rage at the hideous injustice of it all led some of us to imagine we could correct it by violent revolution. 1776, and all that. This strikes me as the same detachment from reality that had made some believe in 1859 that seizing a federal arsenal in Virginia would trigger a great slave revolt. No sale, no interest, no thanks. As John Steinbeck commented, socialism never caught on here becase people see themselves as temporarily embarrassed millionaires rather than the oppressed proletariat they are. That’s the evil genius of our variant of capitalism, allowing workers enough shiny toys to convince them their interests dovetail with those of the oligarchic class. And “keep them doped with religion, and sex, and TV, and they think they’re so clever, and classless and free” as John Lennon so aptly put it. And when they start to wise up, hey presto, send their jobs overseas and keep them down, where they belong.

Sure, it’s true that there were lots more jocks eager to beat up us longhaired pinko fags than there were us longhaired pinko fags, as I recall. It’s truly hilarious now to see them in their old-fartage bullshitting about how groovy they had been too. After Woodstock they started to grow their hair too, and they descended on our communities with no other ideals or ambition than to score free dope and easy sex.

As I get older I think another prime factor of why some of us went a bit batshit in our youth is that we grew up in the toxic shadow of the unspoken rage and anguish of our parents’ generation. The heartbreakingly young faces that stare back at us in fading photos of the servicemen and women of the so-called “greatest generation” are the images of innocents betrayed by the same warmongering elite which today is scheming to destroy China and Russia. They had suffered the unimaginable privations of the Depression and the war while being forbidden to speak honestly about how they really felt about it. They were collectively forced to endure waking nightmares by some of the most worthless leaders in our history – the very ones whom so many mistakenly idolize to this day.

I don’t mean to accuse you personally of lying, but I’m going to call bullshit on the boomer trope that your parents were filled with rage and anguish and were horrible to you because of their “war trauma.” I knew a few Americans of the greatest generation who raised boomers. They were usually calm, utterly selfless, even the more disagreeable ones basically all treated their kids like gold. They certainly provided a (relative) utopia for their children to grow up in. Unlike boomers, many of them helped out their children well into adulthood and didn’t mind being much poorer than their desendents.

But that’s just another lie that you boomers tell yourselves (again, maybe not you personally), like the trope that you walked 10 miles to school each day in the snow, or that you ever worked hard. There’s a documentary on Woodstock on youtube, I don’t recall the name of it, but the first instinct of many older people in the area at the time when they heard about Woodstock was to immediately worry about the welfare of “those kids” (despite being unrelated to them) and to immediately send food and water to them.

Your parents’ generation had no trouble controlling the excesses of capitalists. You were the ones who undid all that and sold out to capitalists the first chance you get. At least you admit you weren’t genuine revolutionaries, but simply spoiled brats looking to have a tantrum against your parents.

Simplistic, moronic nonsense masquerading as intellectual moderation and nuance! This is Rodney King's "Can't we all get along" reworded for an audience of Sailerites and other poseurs. Must it be explained that a witless, pretentious lie diluted to half its original strength is still a lie?

I might be tempted to suggest that you wake up, but your addiction to pretentious nonsense and to the (((Establishment Narrative))) renders any such suggestion a waste of my time. "For better or worse, boomers were originally known as the 'me' generation."

The only boomers capable of satisfying that "me" criterion were a small minority of Wall Street types, heavily Jewish.

To characterize an entire generation -- including blue collar workers and Vietnam War draftees and volunteers -- as a "me" generation is something that can only be believed in by stupid people (of which there seem to be quite a few in this thread).

"[Boomers] could have easily repealed [the Hart-Celler Act] and failed to do so."

This statement of yours shows ignorance of how Congress works.

All legislation is filtered through the Speaker of the House, the Senate Majority Leader, and the chairmen they appoint to the various committees and subcommittees of Congress. You don't get those positions without having a lot of seniority. That means being sixty or older in most cases. Boomers didn't even begin to have such power until 2006.

The Senate Majority Leader has the power to declare any legislation he doesn't like as "dead on arrival" in the Senate, which means it won't get passed.

So, let's look at the Senate Majority Leaders who have been in control since 2006, when the boomers began to gain some power:

I would even dare to suggest it's a must-read, especially for any American (even the iconoclastic, well-meaning baby boomer) looking to make sense of the directly the country has headed over at least the last several decades.

    https://youtu.be/Wh6hesHk6yE?si=G1OwuV3ANszZwcbX

    https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2017/03/08/bruce-gibney-sociopaths-baby-boomers

One of the most important political books of the past few decades is Bruce Gibney’s “A Generation of Sociopaths.” Not a dull read, despite being non-partisan and admittedly seemingly unredpilled (at least in the narrow sense of directly transgressing taboo topics regarding race and gender). I would even dare to suggest it’s a must-read, especially for any American (even the iconoclastic, well-meaning baby boomer) looking to make sense of the directly the country has headed over at least the last several decades.

    Video Link

    https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2017/03/08/bruce-gibney-sociopaths-baby-boomers

As for the Vietnam issue, it’s important to understand baby boomers have always used ideology as simply a cover to pursue their own interests. This is true for both nominally right as well as left leaning boomers. There’s a lot of malarkey (Gibney debunks some of it) regarding the boomer role in ending the Vietnam War. In fact, the baby boomers themselves were numerically the largest supporters of the Vietnam war, right up until they would have to play their part. They only opposed it to the extent they would personally be at risk from being drafted. It’s a complete myth they were a legitimately pro-peace generation.

It’s easy to understand boomers once you understand their psychology.

To paraphrase a quote of his, “What happened to the future? Frankly, the boomers did.”

“What happened to the future? Frankly, the boomers did.”

    Absolute bullshit. Unadulterated malevolent bullshit.

First, let's DEFINE boomers as old white people.

Boomers didn't get us into the Vietnam War. Boomers don't own the alcohol industry or Big Pharma.

Boomers didn't vote for open borders or The Immigration Act of 1965.

Boomers don't own the Federal Reserve.

Boomers don't own and run the media, tv. movies, cable, newspapers, journals, and publishing houses.

Boomers are not running the Ivy League.

Boomers did not start the porn industry, nor do they own it.

Boomers did not invent feminism, anti-racism, political correctness.

Boomers did not fund the NAACP and BLM.

I could do this all day.

The key to unlocking this form of gaslighting is simply to replace the term "boomer" with "JEW," when you run across ridiculous boomer bashing.

Anyone who bashes boomers as being worse than all other generations is a Jewish hasbara troll (or one of their goy minions) seeking to set non-Jewish white people against each other.

Gibney's book is trash. So is Gibney. So are the people who promote Gibney's repulsive book. I don't know how old Gibney is, but it might be time for another military draft and a nice jungle war for the likes of that four-eyed, pasty-faced clown.

" ... the baby boomers themselves were numerically the largest supporters of the Vietnam War, right up until they would have to play their part."

In 1965, when the Vietnam War began to escalate, the oldest boomers were 19 and the youngest were one year old.

I'm surprised to hear that these boomers (who were infants, young children and teen-agers) were polled and the result of the poll said that they strongly supported the Vietnam War.

    Whoda thunkit?

    "...despite being non-partisan ... "

Other than the fact that he calls a Republican president a sociopath.

" ... they in turn made sure to slam the door on all who followed."

Google "amount of money left by boomers to their descendants." $53 trillion is the most conservative estimate given.

That's not counting all the "emergency money" given by the boomers to their latte-drinking children.

Nor does it count all the "boomerang kids" boomers have allowed to live with them without paying any rent.

If boomers are going to be coming to their kids for help, it will be because they indulged their lazy, good-for-nothing children and showered them with money instead of saving for their own retirements.

“But why is ‘Jewish power’ so ‘invisible’ to so many Whites?”

To most whites, Jews appear to be other “white people” like themselves. They don’t wear their Jewishness on their sleeve, especially not when they’re up to no good.

The Jews’ ability to blend into the crowd has been a problem for a long time. That’s why many of them were forced to wear funny pointed hats in the Middle Ages. It’s why Hitler forced them to wear the Star of David.

Add the fact that Jews control the media, and it shouldn’t be any mystery as to why they would be invisible to so many whites.

“It’s not like the Jews are hiding their power.”

It’s true that they are more brazen today. But that brazenness is only very recent. It’s still not overt enough to be recognized by most whites.

How many whites know that Biden’s cabinet is heavily Jewish (Garland, Yellen, Walensky, Cohen, Gensler, Mayorkas, Haines and Blinken)? How many would think that that matters, even if they did know? Hardly any.

Jewish power in the U.S. has grown gradually. It was more discreet in the past than it is today. In 1913, President Wilson was surrounded by Jews and gave them everything they wanted. At that time, most Americans had never even seen a Jew. When they saw people like Baruch, Morgenthau and the other Jews surrounding Wilson, all they saw were “white people” like themselves.

Jews have corrupted evangelical Christians. Samuel Untermeyer and his wealthy Jewish friends financed the career of Cyrus Scofield, whose Scofield Reference Bible is the basis for “Christian” Zionism in America.

“Christian” Zionists form a powerful voting bloc that has enabled Jewish neo-cons to take over American foreign policy. Jewish influence (e.g., Jeffrey Sachs in the Vatican) has also weakened the Roman Catholic Church. The new mass omits the reference to “perfidious Jews” that is found in the old Latin mass.

If you criticize the Jews, you are a “bad person” who doesn’t care about the Holocaust and “God’s chosen people”. If you criticize the Jews, you could very well lose your job, your reputation, your bank account, etc., because Jews have so much financial power.

White Americans instinctively “fear the Jew”. If you criticize the Jews in their presence, they will vehemently defend the Jews and call you a terrible person. This isn’t unique to America. It’s the same in Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany and most of Western Europe. We have to work against this. It’s a tall order to say the least.

This tells you the Hitler Meme is the thing they fear the most. Everything else can be thrown overboard in J/F's analysis, but not that.

Despite whatever criticism can be made of Hitler's domestic or foreign policies -- including his wartime strategies -- the fact remains that the obvious takeaway from J/F's analysis is that the answer is National/Socialism. And this is exactly what the "two party" system is designed to prevent: you can vote for socialism without nationalism (Democrats) or nationalism without socialism (Republicans). As many people—i.e., people who aren't blowhards—now cite exactly this time range, it might well be the case that the span has been authoritatively revised since the sixties.

Thus, the birthrate didn't begin to spike until the second quarter of 1946.

With the exception of immigrants in New York City revolting during the Civil War and the Viet Nam protest, for the most part Americans willingly answer the call. Indeed, when I was drafted in the early 60’s me and the others complained constantly. But we did what the force of law required of us

Regarding current recruiting: it’s my reading that the main problem is find physically and mentally qualified recruits. However, I specifically referenced the so called elite combat units such as Marines, Special Forces, Seals, etc. They are the ones who man the near 1,000 U S based around the world today.

It really is crazy, the way niggers play ball around the clocks, and the way whites are supposed to be ashamed of not being as "good" as niggers who play ball around the clocks (especially when their rate of development in adolescence is generally slower). The sad thing is that BOOMER and SILENT AND GI America worshipped sportsball and considered it more important than learning and knowledge.

Niggerball is for niggers and those who think watching niggers play sportsball constitutes meaningful recreation. Insane, kike-ridden America!

Regarding the“historically sustainability” of the proposition:

The boomers did not care about war
if they did not have to go to war.”

The proposition is empirical: its truth or falsity is determined by factual verification.
Namely, statistical frequency counts of ‘numbers of anti-war protest’ and ‘numbers of participants per protest’ per unit time (i.e., before and after draft).

It’s been decades since I did this type of research and in as much as in those days it was done with pen and paper; my numbers are long gone.

But the numbers are still in public record (e.g., New York Times archives) for anyone interested.

The numbers per se are not ideological … as Joe Friday use to say in the 1950s TV drama “Dragnet” …“Just the Facts ma’am”.

However, implications, i.e., logical conclusion deduced from numerical premises, may be ideological (e.g., value judgements such as “Boomer Bashing by Jews” )

Implications may also be objective e.g., “Boomers do not care about war if they do not have to go to war.”

More generally: I am solidly in the so called ‘White’ (i.e. European/Western civilization) camp.
I believe that ‘facts’ clearly demonstrate the subversion of our history and culture; however, the response to that subversion, if it is to be successful, must be rigorously social scientific (i.e. factual and logical).

The fact of the matter is that all those White Euro-Americans who took to the streets during period of the Draft, went home after the Draft ended and were oblivious to the profound suffering inflicted on masses of non-White European people (to this day) by White Euro/American military.

Back in the 60s there was a saying: ‘What if someone gave a war and no one showed up.”

The fact of the matter is that White Euro-Americans show up for war in droves. For example, the Marines never fail to achieve their recruiting goals. Similarly, Army Special Forces and Navy Seals, etc.
All the miliary combat units that are in the forefront of bringing war to the 1,000 US military bases around the world have no problem finding White Euro-Americans to do the killing.

Regarding the Jews. They do what White Europeans allow them to do.
2% of the population rains over 98% because 98% says: “Ya’sir Boss”.

We vote for Jews and Jewish sponsored candidates; we consume Jewish produced entertainment and news media; we borrow Jewish money; we inject ourselves with Jewish produced vaccines; we send our students to Jewish dominated universities; etc. etc. etc.

And then we complain about Jewish power.

    Wrong.

Ever since the Revolutionary War, there has been a problem “finding white Euro-Americans to do the killing.”

The draft had to be used to get “white Euro-Americans” to fight in:

    1) the Revolutionary War

    2) the Civil War

    3) World War I

    4) World War II

    5) the Korean War

    6) the war in Vietnam.

The few white boys who might consider joining up today are choosing not to join (in spite of big enlistment bonuses) because of discrimination against whites in the military. The military is falling far short of its recruitment goals.

“[The Jews] do what white Europeans allow them to.”

It’s the oligarchic elite that “allows” Jews to do what they do.

Jewish power — and Jewish hostility to non-Jewish whites — is invisible to most Americans.

No I am so not Jewish.
100% Sicilian Traditional Catholic (go to Latin Mass) and hate what Jewish influence has done to my Church.

Yes when an army of hundreds of thousands if not millions is needed, there has to be a draft. But, when Uncle Sam calls generally the masses respond positively.

More generally, you are correct that elites are in control. And they are in large part Jewish or Jewish influenced. But the question is why do the 98% non-Jews bow-down.
Also, keep in mind the issue is not American. The whole of Western Civilization is breaking.
A 2,500 year old magnificent civilization is being “bitch slapped” out of existence.

  • Correction: “under-28-year-old rock musicians” should have read “under-24-year-old rock musicians.”

  • Identifying the culture and politics of the 1960’s with the boomers is a mistake, given the fact that the oldest boomers (born in 1946) were 14 in 1960, 19 in 1965 and 23 in 1969. The youngest were minus 6 in 1960, minus 1 in 1965 and 3 in 1969.

The boomers didn’t produce any of this culture (apart from some under-28-year-old rock musicians) and they didn’t have any political power.

The radical culture and politics of the 60’s was created by older generations — mainly by the “red diaper babies” (heavily Jewish) who were born in the 1920’s and earlier (remember: Marxism had existed as an international movement since 1848) and who took over mainstream intellectual and cultural life in the United States in the sixties, seventies and beyond.

This was easy to do because average Americans are more interested in other things. Things like farming, business and engineering.

I have a photo of a cover of the American Legion Magazine (dated early 1950’s) displaying the title of the feature article which says (I paraphrase): “Do wereally have to have Red professors teaching our college students?”

At most, you can say that the boomers were influenced by the political and cultural revolution. They were also seduced by appeals to the pleasure principle: e.g., loss of restraints and having fun.

Having grown up during that period (I was born in 1953), I can personally testify that the “sixties counterculture” was driven by older people. Teachers and even some preachers delighted in corrupting young minds.

This was a time when college professors and high school teachers wanted to be groovy and “down with the kids”.

And oh, what precious little geniuses we all were who were going to change the world for the better because of what they had taught us! Every graduation speech was filled with admonitions to parents to “trust your kids.”

Jung-Freud talks about the Left Boomers winning over the Right Boomers, and I think this analysis is correct. But then he goes on to say that the Left today isn’t what anyone in the sixties would have recognized as leftist: It doesn’t support the working class. It is prowar. It is authoritarian. It is greedy and power-hungry.

To me, this is not surprising. The traditional left (including communism) never cared about the poor or working class. The poor and the working class were merely a battering ram to be used against the powerful. The real agenda was to overthrow the rulers and then to become the rulers.

Raw power was all that has ever motivated the left.

As for war, the left of the sixties stopped caring about the war in Vietnam the minute the draft was abolished.

Anti-authoritarian? The left was only “anti-authoritarian” because they didn’t run things yet. Their behavior was always authoritarian: it took the form of demands for conformity. You weren’t cool or hip if you didn’t agree with them. You were a square. You were uptight. You were a drag, man.

A lot of the leftist propaganda worked on the boomers, just as it has worked on earlier and later generations. If I were to try to identify a reason for today’s knee-jerk support of war by boomers — a support unique to their generation — the best explanation I would be able to come up with is that they grew up in the age of instant everything. Instant Tang. Instant coffee. Etc. This caused them to be less patient, analytical and thoughtful than they might have been otherwise.

The real issue here is not about generations, but about the nature of leftists regardless of generation. The Left throughout its history has been in rebellion against reality. Jews are naturally drawn to the left because they are in rebellion against God, the creator of reality.

The cure for leftism is what leftism most fears: Christianity, the traditional family, populism, national sovereignty, decentralized power, rural and village life, ethnic separation and tradition.

That cure can only be imposed violently, because the left cannot be reasoned with. To have peace, we must first have war.

Didn't win? The War in Vietnam was (at least until war in Iraq came along), the greatest single victory in American history.

The people for whom the war was being fought -- that would be politicians, industrialists, bankers, arms dealers, weapons manufacturers, and coffin makers -- made more profits with less effort than any previous war ever fought. The only notable cost was a slight diminishment of US young men, US standard of living, and some considerable grief among the useless eaters in flyover country. Even better, that cost was entirely with the portions of the US who were already considered enemies of those who orchestrated the war. Oh, there were some Vietnamese lost as well, probably no more than one or two million.

In return, the war created an almost endless stream of generational wealth among the people who already had generational wealth. Victory!

What? You thought the war was being for to safeguard America? HA! Or to ensure the freedom of the people of Vietnam?! HA HA!!

The US mass media is owned/controlled by Jews. 5 minutes with google would show this. These people have their narrative and reasons to demonize Germany and Germans for that fixation:

Here are 2 reasons; feel free to add more:

    1) To keep the blackmail money, ahem, reparations cash flow going like a Niagara Falls of money to Israel and holohoax “survivors”. Don’t forget to add the USA $3 billion per year to that sum. 4th generation of Germans are beginning to pay for that swindle.

    2) National Socialism was a third way to organize a society for the benefit of its citizens. This avoided the excesses of unbridled capitalism ie. bankers’ capitalism as opposed to worker/labour capitalism.

Surely you have heard the expression All Wars are Bankers’ Wars? Methinks this explains your query.

I also think it has to do with the fact that Stalin was more taciturn and introverted than Adolf Hitler.

The notion that Boomers were a peace generation is a myth fostered by the Viet Naum war protest.

As soon as the draft ended the number of protest and number of protesters per protest droped like a rock.

After the draft the war became magnitudes more vicious e.g. the 1974(?) Christmas bombing of Hanoi.

The notion that Boomers were a peace generation is a myth fostered by the Viet Naum war protest.
But the so called war protest were in fact draft protest.
As soon as the draft ended the number of protest and number of protesters per protest droped like a rock.
The boomers did not care about war if they did not have to go to war.
After the draft the war became magnitudes more vicious e.g. the 1974(?) Christmas bombing of Hanoi.
But no protest of any magnitude.
Or the 1967 Isreali invasion of the remnents of Palestine. No protest.

Also the so called counter culture was in fact nihilist.

You are, unfortunately, one of many who have fallen into the trap of thinking that they can dazzlingly explain seventy years’ worth of problems by indulging in a bit of boomer-bashing. I suggest that rather than engage inany sort of Jew-concocted “generation”-bashing, you instead recall that to sow division where it has no need to exist—viz., among white people of different ages—is to do the Jews’ work for them.

Replies: @The Alarmist, @The True Nolan

Didn’t win? The War in Vietnam was (at least until war in Iraq came along), the greatest single victory in American history.

The people for whom the war was being fought — that would be politicians, industrialists, bankers, arms dealers, weapons manufacturers, and coffin makers — made more profits with less effort than any previous war ever fought.

HA HA!!

    • Replies:@HdC
    @Twin Ruler

Not really. Kane was always a selfish asshat, what happens in the film is that it becomes more and more obvious, until even he realizes it. Jed tells him his political populism is only a way to get millions to love him, and they can get what they want by organizing without him. Susan tells him he only wants her to be an opera singer for his own glorification. Etc.

You could argue that it was being ripped away from his mother that made him that way, but by the time he “begins as a millionaire populist” a dozen years later, when he acquires control of his fortune, his is certainly a selfish asshat.

  • Capitalism is essentially about how to maximize profits.

What? You thought the war was being for to safeguard America? HA! Or to ensure the freedom of the people of Vietnam?! HA HA!!

  • Your point would have been made more effectively if the subject were merely a lapsed Christian like Gregg Allman. Crosby was from a powerful old family, he was an outright communist agitator, and he contributed nothing but poison to this world.

Wasn't Neil Young in a Canadian band with none other than Rick James?

Young, if I remember right, was one of those stars who palled around with Charlie and the Manson family back in the day, although he kept quiet about it afterwards.

Regarding David Crosby--My brush with "greatness" LOL:

I was taking a leak once in Hugo's Restaurant in Hollywood circa 1993 (West H'wd, I think to be exact), and David Crosby came in and took a leak at the next pisser.

That’s cool. So you can honestly say “I once hung out with David Crosby”. A new twist. I don’t think I’ll ever speak of having “hung out” again.

Melissa Ethridge was same-sex in her orientation. In the late 1990s, her partner Julie Cypher, a film director, gave birth to a son Beckett via artificial insemination, or so she said. David Crosby was the biological father.

Whether Cypher had any musical talents or not is something that I do not know. In 2020, Beckett died at 21 of opioid related causes. Whether his death was due to an overdose or due to health vulnerabilities brought on by his opiate use is something I do not know.

Maybe Ethridge and Cypher had hoped to create a child with superior musical talents. Whether Beckett Cypher did or did not have any musical talents is something I do not know.

Before her relationship with Ethridge, Cypher had been married to actor Lou Diamond Phillips. In 2003, Cypher told Ethridge that she "not gay", and their relationship ended. Later, Cypher got married to a man.

AA only has a long-term success rate of 8-12 percent. I'm not knocking AA and its 12 step program, nor am I disputing your observations about private re-hab rackets. I have a good friend/neighbor who has risen very high in the national AA organization and we have discussed all of these matters at length. He concurs with me. AA is not for everybody, in other words.

I was a huge fan of CSN&Y, and I came to the same conclusion. The worst thing in the world is listening to rich old rock stars rant and rave against populists who want to improve the situation for the grass roots American. All four of CSN&Y fit this bill, though Stills and Nash keep it quiet. Bruce Springsteen is another chronic violating asshole. We need all these people to be fed a diet of Ricky Gervais from the Golden Globe awards. Your political views should be kept to yourselves. The very ones who sang “4 dead in Ohio” and were anti-establishment eventually BECAME the establishment and backed the corporatocracy to the hilt…against the people.

The need to harm oneself is a central characteristic of the complex compulsive behavior called addiction. A recent line of thinking is that addiction, like so many other forms of what is termed “mental illness,” is the result of early trauma or neglect. In 12-Step circles what the literature terms “character defects” are also often called “character defenses,” the ways our younger selves developed to cope with difficult circumstances. That they used to work is what makes them so hard, if not impossible, for so many of us to let go of them. Children (and far too many adults) believe that everything that happens around them is about them. Rather than realize that the adults who are failing them are at fault, children will think that there is something wrong with them that deserves the cruelty they experience from those who should be loving them. Consciously or unconsciously, drowning this deeply internalized sense of shame becomes a way of life, and compulsive acting out, with substances or people or behaviors, gradually becomes all-important. Its attendant self-pity is also a very powerful drug that draws us like flies to dung, even after we put down the substance or behavior. It is the flip side of the coin of grandiosity, allowing us the belief (so often heard at meetings) that we are the tiny little specks of shit around which the universe revolves.

While I have no use for traditional god or religion, it is a matter of experience that without faith, that is, a new positive irrational belief to offset an old negative irrational belief, recovery is not possible. Hence the emphasis in AA on the first three steps. It alarms me greatly that the venture capitalists have found addiction recovery, promoting their so-called “evidence-based” theory to be more effective than the proven Twelve Step “spiritual” approach. For-profit fast-cure “recovery centers” with rates of relapse as high as their billings to the insurance companies are everywhere now, yet another signpost of the moral bankruptcy of a culture that values the private accumulation of excess capital above all other considerations. For many of us a fundamental collateral question is: how do you define health in a society that is so fundamentally sick?
