That’s very misleading. There actually is no such thing as “instincts that … desire to have children.” There is a sexual instinct which can result in a female cat going into heat every so often. And there is a maternal instinct which kicks in after the kittens have been born. But there is no instinct which actually coheres into a desire for children before the sexual act itself has been consummated.

Even human males can feel a paternal instinct to care for a child once it has been born. Human females, if not mentally deranged, will quite obviously feel a strong maternal instinct to care for the offspring of their loins. But any desire for children that may be formulated in the mind before the pregnancy itself is simply an intellectual concept. Humans are able to recognize patterns so that we not only are aware that sex leads to pregnancy in a way which animals are not, but we may even come to a conclusion that marriage and family might, at least in certain circumstances, prove beneficial in ways that are not anticipated by simple sexual desire.

If lower IQ individuals reproduce more frequently, this simply reflects the fact that such people are less likely to anticipate a need for birth-control until it is too late. They are more likely to engage in activities which result in unplanned pregnancy. A society which wants the higher IQ members to be reproducing needs to think more about granting respect to such individuals in a way which encourages reproduction. Perhaps some Asiatic societies still do this. Western societies stopped doing such during the economic boom which followed World War II. Even many of the most successful and well-respected people in the West of the last 75 years generally found that they could be a big hit by using birth-control, limiting pregnancy, and possibly banging a load of chicks. In such a context, there’s no reason to think that such people should want to produce a lot of children.

A comment in this article to the effect that intelligent people desire fewer children would seem to oppose a main point of my favorite natalist (and economist) Bryan Caplan, who tirelessly advocates people have children for “selfish reasons.”
None of Caplan’s pronouncements would seem to have made any reference to the parents’ intelligence, but much about them would seem to assume/advocate that parents perform their parental obligations diligently, if not strenuously.

Skoda is part of the VW concern now but generally a Skoda is a much better assembled car than a VW. Generally over the centuries a Czech made thing was generally much better made than an equivalent German thing (we’ll leave the old tank technology until later).

That Russian goods (including cars) are shoddy is a long term Western propaganda thing. Being an only child my parents I know invested a lot in me – but I also I also think there were a lot of missing links in my personality that made maneuvering through life socially difficult. This article is basically bullshit. It is based on conjecture, and lacks any basis in fact.
Modern man has been walking this planet for more than 500K years, and the vast majority of the history of mankind is unknown as well as the history of the earth.
The vast differences in the races suggests that the dispersion of humans has been occurring for much longer than 60K years. The idea that evolution only happened in one location also lacks any evidence.

Obviously, when the environment gets TOO bad, nobody is even gonna live or reproduce in any large numbers. And when there is literally not enough food physically available, you can’t even grow a big brain.

I think the “optimal environment” for brain / intelligence development is an environment which gives the intelligent a large advantage, but does allow for a substansial number of people to survive, if they are even somewhat cabable and not plainly stupid.

For example, an environment which allows a couple to have 4-10 children, but eventually kills off the dumbest 50% of them, will probably lead to somewhat of a high IQ

As a regular joe that grew up in the inner city of Cleveland Ohio at the very beginning of desegregation the baptism by fire that was the busing of black and White children in some cases more than 15 miles across town for reasons only the “scholars” of that era can explain, I can say this, watching how many of the black children acted at that time with authority figures was stunning. This particular committee, drawn from political science scholars employed at Harvard, is tasked not only with evaluating the worth of what this student purportedly produced, and whether it is worthy of conferring a doctorate degree upon this woman, is equally importantly charged with upholding the standards and reputation of the entire institution of higher education called Harvard University.

Along with presentation of their dissertation to the committee, the Ph.D. candidate also gives an hour long oral presentation of their purportedly “new” scholastic discoveries before an “open-to-the-public audience, followed by at least another hour defending any and all observations, interpretations and novel conclusions reported in the dissertation and its public oral presentation. If the candidate is a fraud this should be discernable at any of the three key stages to what should be a rigorous evaluation in i) reading the dissertation, ii} orally presenting the dissertation and iii) defending any new facts, interpretations and applications during the final oral exam step. It is rare, but possible to be denied the degree even upon completion of the very last step in one’s oral defense.

I hope for the sake of our civilization, which has become increasingly underpinned by the hard sciences and high technology, that our academic institutions have not appreciably diminished the rigor in their degree programs merely to accommodate the artificial production of increased numbers of black and female students assumed capable of being plugged into all the important high paying job openings currently being created by affirmative action and downright racial and gender discrimination against white males.

I retired from Academe in 2004. Twenty years of unrelenting black and female privilege since then may well have put us beyond the point of no return, in a system I personally saw degenerating over the preceding 40 or more years, though nowhere near as rapidly. I was one of the first to ignore the preference of my colleagues and opened the doors wide to Asian students in the 1980’s. They quickly took over most science departments, first as students, then as professors and now as administrators. They are incredibly different from blacks. One might think that living in California is the basic requirement for a senator representing California.

Being the president of a university is different. These people receive authority due to their position, but the role is widely regarded to be a glorified money-raiser. The key qualification should be to not unnecessarily alienate the university’s donors. There is also an established precedent that a university president has earned some academic credentials. Harvard being a top school, it would follow that its president has top credentials.

While Gay has a PhD, she has been accused of plagiarizing parts of her doctoral thesis, along with other academic papers she has published. Some years ago I heard Bill Maher say ‘There’s no such thing as being qualified to hold public office — Mary Bono is in Congress because her husband skied into a tree.’

The fact English is so widely taught and spoken as a second language around the world hinders development of language competence in the US — it’s a kind of linguistic chauvinism — so it doesn’t really surprise me.
