During her visit to Beirut on 3 and 4 September, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay reaffirms the Organization’s commitment to Lebanon’s cultural recovery. She emphasizes that, here more than anywhere else, culture and education are vital, and recalled UNESCO’s two flagship initiatives: LiBeirut, launched after the 2020 port explosion to safeguard heritage and schools, and the BERYT Project, which revitalized the city’s cultural and creative industries. Together, these initiatives symbolized UNESCO’s long-term partnership with Lebanon.
