Building Conflict Resolution and Collaborative Capacity within Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Office of Public Collaboration (MOPC) is an applied research center and the statutory state dispute resolution office, serving executive, judicial and legislative branches of government and municipalities since 1990.

Research & Impact

MOPC administers conflict resolution programs, builds collaborative capacity within public entities, convenes dispute resolution and public engagement processes, and teaches collaborative governance approaches to tackle complex policy challenges.

Public Programs

MOPC assists public agencies and courts with public dispute resolution programs that address critical issues such as access to justice, housing stability, recidivism reduction, youth violence prevention, child welfare, and sustainable agriculture.

Program Evaluation & Research

MOPC’s program evaluation and research generate knowledge and learning from evidence-based public dispute resolution programs. Research-informed models and effective practices for successful program administration and capacity-building are developed and shared with local and national networks of practitioners and researchers.

Teaching & Training

MOPC is building the next generation of collaborative governance and public policy dispute resolution practitioners through teaching and training.

MOPC is committed to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within its operations and programming and addressing barriers to DEI in community mediation.
