Dry Bulk cargo is handled in 3 different harbours: Muuga Harbour, Paldiski South Harbour and Saaremaa Harbour. The grain terminal in Muuga Harbour is the largest in the Baltic region and one of the largest in the world.
Both, Estonian import and export cargo as well as transit cargo are handled (fertilisers, grain, scrap metal, gravel, peat, wood pellets etc).
In the case of East West direction transit through the port, terminals and Estonian Railways infrastructures, the Port of Tallinn is able to provide the consignors large consignment storage and transit services. Therefore the Port has a clear competitive advantage compared to other ports located at the Eastern Coast of the Baltic Sea and due to it the client will be able to save both in time and in expenses.

vessels up to 120,000 DWT. Depth at the quays allows to load and discharge large (Panamax) vessels.

Grain
Muuga Harbour hosts one of the largest loading and storage facilities for grain in the whole region.
- The terminal capacity for the import route is 5.0 million tons and for the export route it is up to 2.5 million tons of cereal grains per year
- Two quays with the length of 330 m (1083 ft) and the depth of 17.3 m (~56 ft) enable processing up to 120,000 DWT vessels
- The total holding capacity of 300,000 tons and 48 stand alone silos enable smooth transshipment and an option of process different grain varieties
- The greatest discharge speed of rail wagons is 250 wagons per day and the fastest loading speed is 300 wagons per day
Fertilizers
As the solid bulk, the fertilizers are handled in the Muuga Harbour. The fertilizers arriving to the Port of Tallinn from Russia are loaded to a vessel through a terminal and then shipped to various world markets in North and Latin America, Europe and Asia.
- The capacity of the terminal is 2.5 million tons of fertilizers per year
- The berth with up to 280 m (~918 ft) of length and 14.4 m (~47 ft) of depth enables processing up to 75,000 DWT vessels (PANAMAX)
- Total holding capacity 195,000 tons
- The fastest vessel loading speed is 12,000 tons per day
- The greatest discharge speed of rail wagons is from 220 to 240 wagons per day

Scrap metal
The scrap metal is handled in the Paldiski South Harbour.
The scrap metal is processed whether transported via road or rail transport either originating from Estonia or arriving as a transit.
Recently the proportion of the so called intra-port transit has remarkably increased, where the scrap metal arriving on small vessels is transshipped onto large ones. Possibility to create added value (grading, scrapping, addition etc).
Other dry bulk goods - gravel, peat etc
In addition to the three major categories of the solid bulk goods, the Port of Tallinn processes gravel, peat, wood pellets and other solid bulk goods in the harbour terminals.
