BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. A strategicpartnership agreement on the reconstruction of educationalinfrastructure in the Syrian Arab Republic was signed between theMinistry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, the Ministry ofEducation of Syria, and the Islamic Educational, Scientific andCultural Organization at the headquarters of the Islamic WorldEducational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in Rabaton February 17, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Science and Education toldTrend.
The document was signed with the participation of Azerbaijan’sMinister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, Syria’s Ministerof Education Mohammed Abdulrahman Turko, and ICESCODirector-General Salim bin Mohammed AlMalik.
Under the agreement, Azerbaijan will support the restoration ofSyria’s educational infrastructure, including the construction ofabout 10 new school buildings and the major renovation ofapproximately 100 damaged schools.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister Amrullayev statedthat Azerbaijan places special importance on expanding educationalopportunities in the Islamic world and developing educationalinfrastructure within the framework of international cooperation.He underscored the significance of supporting efforts to restoreSyria’s education system, noting that the Azerbaijani governmentviews the initiative as a key contribution to post-conflictrecovery.
In turn, ICESCO Director-General Salim bin Mohammed AlMaliknoted that the signed agreement would make a significantcontribution to restoring Syria’s educational infrastructure andwould further strengthen cooperation and solidarity among countriesof the Islamic world.
