Visitors to Brazil—Travel + Leisure's 2026 Destination of the Year and South America’s largest country—are attracted by the magnificent Iguaçu Falls, the largest waterfall system in the world and the lively city of Rio de Janeiro with its fashionable district and famous beach, Copacabana, home to hotels, nightclubs, restaurants, and live music bars. The statue of Christ the Redeemer looks out over Rio, and visitors can ride a railway two miles to the plaza at its base for panoramic views. Outside of the city, there’s wildlife, the rainforest of the Amazon basin, beaches, Sugarloaf Mountain, beaches, and colonial towns.
