Discipline at The World Games 2025:Sixes Lacrosse
A very old sport originating in North America, Lacrosse is played with a stick and a small rubber ball, on a grass pitch with two goals placed centrally towards each end. The players use a stick that is unique: it has a pocket at its end which the players can use to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. The goalkeeper has a stick with a wider pocket.
The World Games features Lacrosse Sixes, with six players per team on the pitch. 'Sixes' brings the excitement and speed of Lacrosse in a smaller, faster, more accessible format. Games are played in four 8-minute quarters. The game incorporates a ‘shot clock’; once an offensive possession begins, the team must take a shot on goal within 30 seconds. The team scoring the most goals wins the match.
If the score is tied after regulation time, then there is sudden-victory overtime, which lasts until a goal has been scored.
