One of the best-selling games of all time is finally launching on Android. Starting today, the revamped version of iconic adventureMyst — known asrealMyst — isavailable on Google Play for $6.99. The port is being handled bymobile studio Noodlecake, in partnership with original developer Cyan, and will feature several useful modern additions, including a bookmarking tool and built-in hint guide in case you get stuck. In addition to touchscreen controls, the Android version ofrealMyst also supports Bluetooth controllers.
Originally released on PC in 1993,Myst strands players on a mysterious island, and tasks them with solving a series of intricate puzzles in order to uncover its multiple world-spanning story. It helped usher in a new wave of CD-ROM games, and up until 2002 it was widely considered the best-selling PC game of all time. (It was eclipsed byThe Sims that year.)Myst has since been ported to a range of platforms, and made its mobile debut on iOS way back in 2009. Its sequel,Riven, is also coming to Android, with Cyan saying it will be released “soon.”
While there hasn’t been a brand-newMyst game in over a decade, last year Cyan releaseda spiritual successor calledObduction.
