The WIkimedia Foundation has released an updated version of its visual editor, which is designed to make adding content to sites like Wikipedia much simpler.

Andrew Webster
is an entertainment editor covering streaming, virtual worlds, and every single Pokémon video game. Andrew joined The Verge in 2012, writing over 4,000 stories.

Late last year the Wikimedia Foundationunveiled its new visual editor to make the process of editing content on any of the organization’s sites — most notably Wikipedia — a whole lot simpler. Since that time the group has been taking feedback from users and has now launched a new prototype. “We’ve overhauled the entire editor,” writes Wikimedia’s James Forrester.

The group partnered withWikia to build the new visual editor, and as with before, the ultimate goal is to make “the process of learning how to edit to be trivial, so our volunteers, both new and experienced, can devote themselves to what they edit.” To that end the new version — which is missing key features like adding images or creating tables — will be updated about once every two weeks in order to address user feedback and add new features. You can check the prototype out nowright here.
