Last month at a gig in Nigeria, the Invisible's frontman and producer Dave Okumu was swapping guitars with bandmate Tom Herbert when he was electrocuted. Unable to let go of the guitar, which was burning into his hand, he collapsed to the ground and broke his leg in the fall. "I really thought I was going to die,"he told Gigwise. In fact, death is something that looms large over the Invisible's recently released second album, Rispah. Named after Okumu's late mother, it's been described as a "love letter to grief" and features snatches of traditional spirituals recorded at her funeral interwoven with the band's experimental, electro-tinged rock. One of the album's highlights isWings, which sounds like the perfect meeting point between In Rainbows-era Radiohead and TV on the Radio. Premiered here exclusively is the remix by Floating Points, aka Sam Shepherd, which dreamily elongates the original allowing the circular guitar riff to weave in and out of sighing synths and distant drum clicks. It's all rather lovely.
