Bungalow boys keep ITV Mayhem at bay
ITV1's SM:TV Live replacement, Ministry of Mayhem, failed to make up any ground on BBC1's rival Saturday morning children's show, Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow, on its second outing at the weekend.
Ministry of Mayhem, which is presented by relative newcomers Stephen Mulhern, Michael Underwood and Holly Willoughby, attracted 500,000 viewers and a 9% audience share between 9.25am and 11.30am on Saturday, according to unofficial overnights.
The new ITV1 Saturday children's show attracted exactly the same figures when it launched the previous weekend.
Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow was watched by 1 million viewers and attracted a 17% audience share between 9am and 11am.
The BBC1 show improved slightly on its performance the previous Saturday, when it attracted 900,000 viewers and a 16% audience share.
However, the ITV1 children's controller, Steven Andrew, will not be panicking just yet.
SM:TV Live trailed well behind BBC1's Live & Kicking when it first launched, but went on to become the top rating children's Saturday morning show for several years.
And more recently, BBC1's Saturday Show took time to reach a point where it was competing neck and neck with SM:TV in the ratings.
BBC1 also dominated the Saturday evening ratings battle, with back to back dramas Casualty and Dalziel and Pascoe leading the way.
Medical drama Casualty was watched by 9.5 million viewers and attracted a 38% audience share between 8.20pm and 9.10pm.
Dalziel and Pascoe, in which Warren Clarke's police detective Andy Dalziel investigated a murder in a remote rural community, followed up with 8.3 million viewers and a 35% audience share from 9.10pm.
Casualty got the better of ITV1's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, which attracted 6.6 million viewers and a 27% audience share.
Then from 9.15pm on ITV1, Denis Norden's 8th Laughter File was watched by 5.6 million viewers and attracted a 24% audience share.
Earlier in the evening, BBC1 also got a good ratings return from a repeat of 13-year old Kevin Costner movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which attracted 6.3 million viewers between 5.30pm and 7.45pm.
Robin Hood was up against ITV1's Celebrities under Pressure, which attracted 4.2 million viewers, and Stars in Their Eyes, which was watched by 6.1 million.
Britain's Best Sitcom lost more than 2 million viewers on BBC2, following last week's countdown of the top 50.
Saturday night's second episode, which featured John Sergeant singing the praises of Blackadder, attracted 2.4 million viewers between 9.10pm and 10.15pm.
However, Britain's Best Sitcom still proved more popular than film repeats on Channel 4 and Channel Five.
Channel 4's Paradise Road attracted 2 million viewers between 9pm and 11.10pm, while Magnum Force on Five was watched by 1.3 million, 9.05pm-11.30pm.
From 10.15pm a repeat of the final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth was watched by 2.7 million viewers and attracted a 12% audience share to BBC2.
