Murphy Brown creator Hollywood bound
The creator of US TV series Murphy Brown is turning to the big screen.
Diane English, who wrote and executive produced the hit series - which starred Candice Bergen - has apparently signed a seven figure deal to write and direct a romantic comedy.
Variety reports that the comedy, entitled First Man, is about how a couple copes when the man gives up his successful job as a CEO after his wife is elected the first female president of the United States.
"I find stories about Washington and the media really appealing as that's my place," English told Variety." The project seemed like a really fun and interesting way to examine an American family in a really unusual situation and see how they play out their difficulties and dysfunctions against the backdrop of world events."
English, who has never directed a film before, is also lined up to direct The Women and Even Steven.
