Despite the recent end of the three-year-collaboration with Milan Vukmirovic as Creative Director of the
Trussardi 1911 man, woman and accessory collections, Italian fashion house
Trussardi has announced the launch of its new Trussardi MY Design project debuting within Milan Design Week in April 2011.
The Italian fashion house - celebrating its centennial this year with various initiatives - strongly believes in the importance of this project as part of the brand's long-time commitment for the design world before other designers started it. In the 1980s and 1990s, Trussardi had actually already been involved in excellent design collaborations with Alitalia, Vespa, Alfa Romeo and Mini as well as a Trussardi telephone and a Trussardi bicycle.
The special initiative “100 Collection - Trussardi MY Design" is designed by British designer, Michael Young, who moved his studio to Hong Kong five years ago and already collaborated with international companies such as Magis, Cappellini, Artemide, Sawaya & Moroni, Rosenthal, Danese, Established & Sons and DuPont Corian. For Trussardi, the British designer has created a special collection of chairs, tables and stools in precious wood materials after browsing through the maison's own archives.
President and CEO of the Trussardi group, Beatrice Trussardi, commented: "Michael Young's trait and vision are elements that match well Trussardi's contemporary spirit. By collaborating with this important international designer, we will be able to offer another fundamental pillar in ‘Made in Italy’ where we already occupy a key position in fashion, art and food."
"I'm enthusiastic about this collaboration," commented Young. "When I looked through the company's own archives I discovered an incredible collection of design samples, prototypes and projects from the 1980s and 1990s. In that moment, for the first time, industrial design gave life to products characterized by unprecedented construction and detailing that can be hardly found even in today's design world."
