After a year ofmanifesting thiscollaboration into existence, the crossover between BTS and Hot Girl Coach Megan Thee Stallion is finally here — though it almost didn’t happen.

On August 27, BTS released their highly anticipated remix to “Butter” with thee hot girl herself Megan Thee Stallion. The internet was thrown into a tailspin whenVariety released a report that Megan Thee Stallion’s lawyers had filed a civil lawsuit against her label 1501 just for her feature on the song to be released.

Despite “Butter” having placed no.1 on Billboard for nine weeks, 1501 allegedly claimed that the feature with the mega-star group would not be “good for her career,” according to court documents. They requested a “waiver” that would allow Megan to be a part of the song if the label received a fee of $100,000. However, the 26-year-old Grammy winner would not be entitled to that money. PerBuzzFeed, Megan’s lawyers had to request a temporary restraining order to keep the label from stopping the release of the “Butter” remix.

The feeling of excitement has been palpable online now that the ear-melting song has been released, with both Megan and BTS sharing their elation for the remix on Instagram (where Meg shared a bunch of fan-created art) andWeverse. Megan fit right in with the cool, confident vibe that BTS so effortlessly exudes. “I remember writing flows in my room in college/Now I need global entry to the shows I'm rocking,” she raps in her verse. “Smooth like cocoa butter/ My drip more than a puddle.” While this is only a remix, Megan gave so much charisma to the song with her signature “aah,” ad libs, giggles, and harmonizing with Suga that she sounds like could have been on the original single.

ARMY is already hailing the remix one of the best BTS collaborations to date, and fans of both artists raisedmore than $100,000 to donate to organizations including Black Women for Wellness, Women for Afghan Women, and the Houston Food Bank in support of Megan. In sum, the merging of these powerhouse artists is proving to be one of the most heart-warming, sonically-pleasing collaborations of the year. (And the YouTube visualizer for the remix is already close to 10 million views as of 8:30 a.m. EST.)

All we need at this point is a music video or live performance so we can see BTS and Megan Thee Stallion make magic together in person. Check out the “Butter” remix below:
