Finlay's Bio
- Knox made his second Olympic appearance at Paris 2024 and advanced to the final of the 200 IM, ultimately finishing eighth. He also contributed to a fifth-place finish in the men’s 4×100 medley relay, a fifth-place finish in the mixed 4×100 medley relay, and a sixth-place finish in the men’s 4×100 free relay.
- At the 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Swimming Trials, presented by Bell, Knox won the 200-metre individual medley, beating his own Canadian record. His performance qualified him to represent Canada at his second Olympic Games.
- Knoxalso won gold in the 100–metre breaststroke, and bronze in the100-mfreestyle earning himself spots on themen’s 4x100 freestyle and 4×100–metre medley relays in Paris.
- At the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Knox won his first World Championships title in the 200-metre individual medley in Canadian record time.
- Knox broke also broke the 50 butterfly Canadian record in his semifinal
- Knox was part of the 4×100 mixed freestyle and 4×100 medley relay, which both finished fourth. He also qualified for two semifinals in 50 butterfly (9th) and 100 butterfly (12th).
- Knox won gold at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago Chile in the men’s 200-metre individual medley. The win would be his first ever gold medal at a major games. He also was part of four bronze medals relays in the 4×100 freestyle, 4×100 mixed freestyle, 4×200 freestyle and 4×100 medley.
- Part of the men’s 4×100 freestyle relay that finished fifth at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
- Made the semifinals in the 200-metre individual medley where he finished 13th.
- Knox was part of the 4×200-metre freestyle relay that finished 12th in a time of 7:10.67, the fastest time for Canada since 2009.
- Knox broke the Canadian record in the men’s 200 IM at the 2023 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials.
- Knox reached the podium with bronze in both the 200 medley and 100 medley. He also set a Canadian record in the 200 at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) 2022 in Melbourne.
- Knox was a member of the 4×100-m freestyle relay that took home bronze and the 4×200-m freestyle relay that finished 5th at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Individually he finished 4th in the 200-m individual medley, 7th in the 100-m butterfly and 13th in the 50-m butterfly.
- At the 2021 FINA World Championships (25m), Knox broke the Canadian record and finished sixth in the 100-m individual medley. Knox also placed ninth in the 200-m individual medley.
- At the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Knox was part of the men’s 4×200-m freestyle relay team that finished 11th. He finished 17th in the 200-m individual medley and 31st in the 100-m butterfly.
- At the 2022 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials, Knox broke the Canadian record in the 200-m individual medley. Knox captured silver in the 100-m butterfly, 200-m breaststroke and 200-m freestyle. His performances qualified him for both the 2022 FINA World Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
- At his first Olympic Games in Tokyo, Finlay Knox finished 17th in the men’s 200-m individual medley.
- At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Trials, Knox won gold in the 200-m individual medley and lowered the Canadian record. Knox also captured silver in the 100-m butterfly. His performance qualified Knox for his first Olympic Games.
- At the TPASC High Performance Time Trial, Knox broke the Canadian record and became the first-ever Canadian to swim under 1:59 in the 200-m individual medley.
- At the Budapest 2019 FINA World Junior Championships, Knox earned silver in the men’s 200-m individual medley. His performance was the second-fastest 200-m individual medley ever by a Canadian. He was also a member of the men’s 4×100-m medley team that brought home bronze.
- Knox broke a 10-year-old Canadian record at ISL 2020 in the 100-m individual medley. He also lowered his Canadian record in the 200-m individual medley.
