Demis Hassabis and John Jumper

Demis Hassabis: Co-founder and CEO, Google DeepMind; John Jumper: Director, Google DeepMind

Demis Hassabis and John Jumper are the developers behind AlphaFold, an algorithmic model that can predict the 3D shape of proteins from their amino acid sequences. The model lets researchers visualize and study the interactions between proteins more readily than ever before. AlphaFold has advanced efforts to better understand the causes of heart disease, develop a malaria vaccine, and address the threat of antimicrobial resistance, among many other applications. Hassabis and Jumper were awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in chemistry for their achievements.
