Triple Wolf (トリプルウルフ,Triple Wolf) isTerry'sFinal Smash.

Overview[edit]

Upon activation, Terry will shout "Overheat!" and perform a Triple Geyser, consisting of three consecutivePower Geysers. If an opponent is hit by one of these geysers, they will be hit by any remaining geysers, with more damage dealt if the first or second geysers hit. The first opponent to be hit will be forced into a cutscene, where Terry will punch the opponent to the ground usingPower Dunk and exclaiming, "TA-YEAHH!!" before charging up, yelling "Here's the big one!" and performing a cinematicBuster Wolf at point-blank range while shouting “BUSTER WOLF!!”. If multiple opponents are hit by Triple Geyser, only the first one will be subjected to the cutscene.

Triple Geyser is capable of dealing a lot of damage to bystanders; the cinematic finisher can KO opponents at around 60% from the center of anΩ form stage, while the geysers themselves can KO at around 130% under the same conditions, though the latter is only relevant if the move strikes multiple opponents. Due to the move's massive range and ability to combo from a wide variety of Terry’s moves, it is an effective Final Smash in 1v1 battles.

Canceling[edit]

Thanks to hisspecial move canceling mechanic, Terry can cancel many of his moves into Triple Wolf. By pressing the special button after connecting with one of his standard attacks or most special moves (i.e. all except Power Wave and Power Geyser) Terry will cancel the endlag of an attack straight into a Triple Wolf.

Instructional quote[edit]

Super Smash Bros. UltimateMove ListTerry (SSBU)A powerful triple combo that starts with Triple Geyser, continues with Power Dunk, and ends with Buster Wolf. Triple Geyser can damage multiple opponents, but only the first opponent it hits suffers the full combo.

Origin[edit]

The move combines Power Dunk, a special move of Terry's, with Triple Geyser and Buster Wolf, two of Terry's Super Special Moves from theFatal Fury series. Triple Geyser, an improved version of the Power Geyser, was first introduced inFatal Fury 3, where it was a Hidden Super Desperation Move that required a hidden button combo before the match starts (specifically ↙ + C, → + C, → ↘ ↓ ↙ ← + C + D). Not inputting this combo will result in Power Geyser being the Desperation Move instead. Later games in theKing of Fighters series include it a Super Desperation Move usable when Terry has a full super meter, and when his health is low enough to use a Desperation Move at will. Buster Wolf was introduced inGarou: Mark of the Wolves. The incorporation of Power Dunk in the Final Smash could be a reference toReal Bout Fatal Fury Special, where it is used as the first part of Terry's Hidden Super Desperation Move, High-Angle Geyser, orThe King of Fighters XIV, where it is turned into a super move in the form of Star Dunk Volcano.

Terry's cries of "Here's the big one!" and "BUSTER WOLF!!" in this Final Smash are heavily inspired by his voice clips for EX Buster Wolf fromThe King of Fighters XIV. The name of the move, however, is original toSmash, though the Wolf part of the name refers to his nicknames Legendary Hungry Wolf, Wild Wolf and The Legendary Wolf as well as the move Buster Wolf.

Trivia[edit]

  • Using this move againstMr. Game & Watch will show his model in 3D, as withThe Mighty Jinjonator,ARMS Rush, andSupernova. This is likely because their cinematics manipulate the Z-axis in such a way that it disregards the model flattening effect on Mr. Game & Watch.
  • When using Triple Wolf in the air, Terry's animations are styled after theReal Bout Fatal Fury Special version of Triple Geyser. Instead of the normal animation, Terry performs the second geyser with an uppercut rather than punching the ground with his fist.
  • When Terry performs the Power Dunk during Triple Wolf on most characters, he will hit them in the chest or stomach; however, there are some exceptions (such asMin Min) who get struck in the head due to the nature of their knockback animations.
  • Triple Geyser is the only part of the move that cannot be normally performed during gameplay ofSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, Triple Geyser uses threePower Geysers, a move that can be performed normally.
