Tournament summary[edit]

This event took place right afterThe Kid, the Goat, and the Mang0, and as such featured many players from outside the SoCal region. However, due to its close proximity to the aformentioned event and its status as a weekly despite being a special event with a higher prize pool, this tournament was not tiered on theSpring 2019 PGRU, although retroactive re-tiering fromEazyFreezie that used theLumiRank methodology tiered the tournament as a B+ tier. Nevertheless, this event is one of the largestSmash tournaments in the Wednesday Night Fights series in terms of talent.

This event is known for being the largestUltimate event won by aDuck Hunt player. On his path to victory, Raito also defeated many top players from theSmash 4 era, includingFOW 2-0 andLarry Lurr 3-2, and fought a 10-game grand finals withElegant, going to a last-hit situation in the final game. This event is also the largest event that Raito won in his entireSmash career.

In addition, this event is also known for beingSparg0's breakout event as he defeatedVoiD 2-0, Elegant 2-0, andKameme 2-0 to place 4th. His performance at the event placed him in the national spotlight not only because of his character choice ofCloud, who at that time many had dismissed as a shell of hisSmash 4 self, but also because of his wins over severalSmash veterans, especially VoiD, who was considered SoCal's best player and a contender for the top 10 in the game's early months. Sparg0's performance at the event led many to consider him one of the best Cloud players in the world, and as a result of this performance and other victories in SoCal, he was eventually ranked 2nd in SoCal despite being from Mexico.
