Trivia[edit]
- aMSa's tournament victory marks the firstMelee major (as well as firstMelee supermajor) won by aYoshi player.
- This marks the first time aMelee player who is not one of theFive Gods has won a Big House tournament sinceLovage’s victory atthe first Big House.
- Additionally, this is the first majorMelee tournament won with a new character sinceSmash Summit 8 (over three years prior), whereAxe won withPikachu.
- This is also the first majorMelee tournament won by a player from Japan. However, aMSa was living in Canada at the time of the tournament.
- Similar to aMSa,Riddles's victory marked the firstUltimate major won by aKazuya player.
- In addition to The Big House 10 being the first major win for both players, aMSa and Riddles both faced off against aFox player (Mango andLight, respectively) in Grand Finals before winning the tournament.
- Both players live in Canada and had a prior peak placing of 2nd at a tournament for their respective main games.
- Both players are also avidMelee fans; throughout his tournament run, Riddles used the ingame tag "ISAI*" in order to pay homage toIsai.
- With Riddles' victory, every character inFighters Pass Vol. 2 has been successfully utilized in order to win anUltimate major.
- Soonsay was the only player in Winners' Quarters forMelee who had not been invited toSmash Summit 14.
- Plup arrived on time for the tournament, but dropped out upon learning that he had caught the flu.[1]
- Leffen was double eliminated by Canadian players (Soonsay andMoky) for 17th, his lowest placement inMelee singles sinceThe Big House 6 six years prior.
- During Game 4 of2Saint vsS2J inMelee singles, 2saint landed aphantomRest that would have otherwise closed out the set in their favor. S2J would end up winning the set in the following Game 5. On commentary,Toph humorously referred to the incident as "karmic restoration" for S2J's set vs.Abate atThe Big House 5 (which S2J lost due to a set-ending stomp being negated by theinvisible ceiling glitch).
- Due to concerns over copyright, every timeHollow Bastion was selected inUltimate singles, the game audio was muted and overlaid with a different song.
- This tournament marks the first time an Ike player (PsyKoD) reached top 12 at a North AmericanUltimate major sinceMkLeo atFrostbite 2019 in 2019.
