Kagaribi 14 was aSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatesupermajor held in Tokorozawa, Saitama,Kantō from November 2nd-3rd, 2025.
Tournament summary[edit]
Kagaribi 14 is the seventh event tiered premier and above on theLumiRank 2025 and the fourth premier in the second half of the year. Similar to other Kagaribi events within the last few years that have taken place during this time of the year, the event was smaller than the Golden Week counterpart, featuring nearly 1,000 less entrants and significantly less international attendance, withMkLeo being the only non-Japanese top 50 player in attendance. ThoughSonix initially registered for the event, he later dropped out due to money issues. The smaller number of players registered led tournament organizers to lower the entrants cap from 2,048 to 1,536. Consequently, best of 5 sets began earlier in bracket.[1]
This event is remembered forDoramigi finally triumphing overMiya, after having lost to him 16 times in a row. Going into the event, both players were considered the frontrunners for claiming the #1 position at the end of the year, and Miya notably defeated Doramigi in Grand Finals at bothSupernova 2025 andRiptide 2025 in dominant 3-0 fashions. Winners Finals at Kagaribi 14 was an improvement over those two sets, as Doramigi won game 2 and came close to winning games 1 and 4. This noticeable improvement culminated in their Grand Finals matches. In the first set, Doramigi defeated Miya 3-0, finally defeating his bracket demon for the first time in his career. The second set of Grand Finals was more competitive: Miya won the first 2 games and was set to take the fourth in a 3-stock. However, Miya made a questionable edgeguarding choice — going for a down air offstage when a back air would have secured his victory — leading to anSD. This flipped momentum towards Doramigi, who then performed a reverse-3 stock to steal the game from Miya before winning the final game to win the entire event. Though Doramigi would have ended the season at #1 no matter what, many players considered these two sets as having cemented Doramigi as the best player in 2025. This victory made Doramigi the second player to win more than one premier event in 2025 at that time, though Riptide's retiering to P tier retroactively made Doramigi the third.
For the rest of Top 8, this was the third supermajor of the year where the same players placed in the top 3, withHurt finishing 3rd. Hurt's run featured him winning his runback againstCarmelo,MkLeo, andacola, and he notably pulled outSonic to reverse-3-0 acola'sMr. Game & Watch counterpick. In addition, this wasShirayuki's first supermajor top 8; after losing toKurofune in Winners Top 48, he went on an 8-set Losers run to place 5th and won 5 sets that went to game 5 (againstkept,KEN,Shuton, andAsimo).
As for notable sets,Smashmate playersFrontier andPrand Grix both made notable upsets. As the number 266 seed, Frontier sentTamaPDaifuku to losers in a close 3-2, with an upset factor of 10. Prand Grix, in his first major offline appearance, defeated Yoshidora 3-0 with an upset factor of 10 as well. Notably, TamaPDaifuku and Raru (who was upset by Rosalina playeryuzu in an upset factor of 12) fought each other for 49th, with the latter winning after a close 3-2. Raru was eventually eliminated at 25th place byLeaf, who himself went on an incredible Loser's run after losing toDoramigi; Leaf was eventually eliminated by MkLeo at 9th, marking Leaf's second single-digit placement at a supermajor that year. Finally, Yoshidora was upset by R.O.B. playerKuroponzu for 17th place, though some players believed Kuroponzu was underseeded, similar to the previous Kagaribi event.
