Get On My Level 2016 was the 3rd edition of theGet On My Level series, a Super Smash Bros tournament held annually in Canada. It took place May 20th to 22nd, 2016, at the Queen Elizabeth Building, Toronto. The event hosted tournaments for all four main Smash games, with 987 unique entrants registred, making itthe largest Canadian Smash tournament to date untilGet On My Level 2019 surpassed it. It was also part of a larger event calledGood Game Con, which included several tournaments for other eSports, as well asToryuken 5 running other fighting games.

Tournament summary[edit]

Melee[edit]

After a disappointing 7th place finish in his previous visit to Toronto atEnthusiast Gaming Live Expo,Leffen scored a resounding victory inMelee singles and became the first player to win a supermajor outside of the Five Gods sinceAzen atViva La Smashtaclysm in 2007, taking successive wins overMew2King,Armada,Hungrybox, andMango.n0ne also won against Mew2King in a huge upset, becoming the firstCaptain Falcon player to defeat hisSheik in a full set in over a decade. However, he narrowly lost toLucky in a last game, last stock situation, earning a 7th place finish for himself.

Smash 4[edit]

ZeRo made his return toSmash 4 tournament play early afterZinoto dropped out of GOML 2016 due to personal reasons, and defeatedSan,Mr. R,Leo,Nairo, andLarry Lurr after being sent to losers bracket early in winners quarters by Mew2King, who became the first smasher inSmash 4 history to defeat ZeRo with a 3-0 victory.Ally took his first ever major win forSmash 4 singles, not only taking his first games off of ZeRo in grand finals, but defeating him for the first time 3-2, with each game being won consecutively. He also wonSmash 4 doubles withANTi andBrawl singles overV115 and ANTi. Leo entered GOML 2016 shortly after registration ended due to widespread community approval, and played against ZeRo in losers quarters in a highly anticipated set. He ended up losing to ZeRo 2-3, netting a 5th place finish.

Smash 64[edit]

At his very first offline tournament, Smash 64 playerDerek, after losing in pools, defeated well known players such asShears,Fireblaster,Nintendude, andBarkSanchez to place 5th after losing toThe Z 2-3.
